Right after the famous “The Phantom Edit” came out, another edit of “The Phantom Menace” surfaced, called “The Phantom Re-Edit”, also known as “The Phantom Edit 1.2″ or “The New York Version”.

It was remastered by Magnoliafan. This is a far more extensive edit of the original movie, making Jar Jar into a Jedi-like Sage, maturing up all of the Gungans and tons of minor cuts, edits and changes to pacing throughout.

A very heavily cut, hour long version of The Phantom Menace that removes nearly everything that isn’t narratively relevant, including all Gungans except for Jar Jar and quite a bit of both Tatooine and Coruscant. Everything you need to start off a marathon in a lean hour long package.

This version is for STAR WARS fans who have already seen Episode 1 a few times and have a hard time re-watching the original. This version provides an experience more in line with the original trilogy (at least A New Hope and Empire).

Star Wars: Revisited represents perhaps the boldest and most sophisticated of any of the fan edits of Star Wars EP IV: ANH. Star Wars: Revisited not only fixes errors and technical limitations to the film that should have been made in the first SE, but gives us a whole new vision for the movie, tying it to the rest of the Star Wars saga while correcting many of the excesses of the original SE. Shots are re-mastered and restored, special effect shots are re-composited and whole new sequences are created, giving the viewer a taste of what the SE could have been.

Taking the 2004 DVD as source, this wasn’t an effort to recreate the original version of A NEW HOPE, but rather to create a hybrid that is truly improved.

A film that’s been admired, hated and puzzled-over in fairly equal amounts, writer/director David Lynch’s ambitious 1984 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel gets an extensive fanediting treatment in Dune The Alternative Edition Redux. This is my third and final cut of an edit I first released in 2008 and again in 2009. To that end, I felt that a careful hand was needed. I experimented with many different story arrangements, endings, etc., until I developed a combination that remains true to the spirit of the original film while improving the overall flow of the story

This tightens up the overall pacing of the story – and it’s badly needed. Now it is a much more compelling experience.

A recut of Terminator 2 to create a hybrid from the best of both the theatrical and extended special editions. Other elements have been cut and remixed to create a more serious tone.

This is a sequel to THE WAR OF THE STARS: A NEW HOPE GRINDHOUSED, released in 2010. The goal is now to mix “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” while taking care of the changes made for the first edit. A lot of deleted scenes are also back in this edit. Some hopefully intertaining twists and more than 90 new special effects turn this project into something that I think is special even if maybe not as “fun” as the first edit. Or fun in another kind of way.

(This is not a “grindhoused” version, although some of the deleted scenes are looking old and the main sources used are from the Original Theatrical Cuts released in poor quality in 2006 as a “bonus” to the special edition DVD).

This creates a kind of, “What if the Predator series spawned a series of short TV films, a la Masters of Horror?” Created to be able to watch these stories without cringing all the time. They’ll never be great films, but they are now at least fun films.

Universal wasn’t able to release a proper version of the extended edition of WATERWORLD. Instead they released the TV version, which had violence, nudity and profanity drastically removed. This fanedit corrects that and some other minor issues.
