Prometheus – Special Edition

While I enjoyed the original Prometheus I had many of the same problems others had and this cut does much to correct those issues. This is a superior version of the film and with that being said I am going to hold it to a high standard of review.

I have very little issues but I will say that while I applaud your attempt to make the 2 scientists less annoying you cut too much footage of them and it kinda stands out when they just disappear from the group. I will say that the editing was seamless for me up till the point when David starts to read the alien script on the wall. Just then the music swells and cuts to a different shot with no music in the background. Other than that the only real problem I had with the editing was the 2 scientists being a little to absent.

I was a little surprised you left the Fifield zombie attack in. I never like that scene and it was never part of the original movie, it was ordered as re-shoots for more action by Fox.

With all that in mind, I feel this version told a similar enough story and completed all the tasks the original set out to that if were the only version of the movie you saw, you would probably be doing yourself a favor.

since prometheus realise i must have watched it some 20+ times, for all of it's faults it's a film i find entertaining and never boring. as the fanedits start to trickle in slowly agent 9 version of the film will be remembered in years to come as one of the definitive fanedits to prometheus.

there are many aspects to prometheus that didn't bother me as they seem to bother others, but that being said the cuts made here are all done to a very high standard. the high point to this edit is how millburn and fifield are no-longer the idiotic buffoons they came across in the theatrical version, it's one of the biggest problems i had with the film.

but that's just one of the many highlights this edit has to offer, and while agent 9 is a new comer in terms of edits realised it's obvious that he knows what he's doing and i'd certainly will keep an eye on any future edits that he creates.

my only gripe with the edit is that millburn isn't introduce by name earlier, though this is really nip picking on my behalf. agent 9 prometheus special edition sets a the bar high and while i look forward to more edits on prometheus this version is the best i've seen so far and even replaces the original.

As much as I enjoyed the original film, I always felt that it *tried* too hard to be an Alien film, while at the same time, missing many of the elements that made Alien so successful.

This edit changes all that. It feels like the film Prometheus wanted to be.

Picture & sound quality are simply stunning and this is now the version I will watch and I will watch it MANY more times than the original.

Highest of recommendations

I watched the blu-ray version of Prometheus S.E. last night and I must say I am mighty impressed, first of all the video quality on the blu-ray is close to the retail version I have, enhanced with better quality deleted scenes. The audio is also faultless and with 'Alien' soundbites this is an improvement in my opinion. All the incorporated new scenes are seemless and do add to the story, and the beginning and title sequence improves the start without a doubt. As noted elsewhere, the TED Conference scene is the perfect begining for the film, showing a young Weyland, which begs the question - why was it not in the original cut?
The color corrected scenes match great, and the wire removal in the extended final battle is professionally done, as is the new green screen removal scene. The cuts Agent9 has made are unnoticable and improve the story in my opinion.
All in all this edit will be the one I will reach for in the future, I rate this fanedit a resounding success at 10 out of 10!
I for one will be anticipating future Agent9 fanedits.

something about Prometheus i love,maybe because im a big fan of Alien.But this edit was much better then the original movie,it explains things better to me.Agent 9 is a gifted editor and i look forward to more of his work.I could talk about all his Cuts and Additions but he has done a great job in his release info.Agent 9 is one too watch for in his next works and is top on my list.
