J'ai adoré cette version ! Prometheus est bien mieux avec les différentes scènes coupés et alternatives. Les couleurs sont très belles. Cette est mieux que le film original je trouve. Il y a eu un énorme travail, je met donc une excellente note !

Hi there!

I find this fanedit to be technically perfect. The work is awesome from the beginning. I also find it a success to start with the TED speech and what follows gives the movie a great start.

However from then on, I find the original movie to be almost unfixable, and I find the edits fall too short. I rather Beezo's work on the first alien encounter, and also his corrections as far as the ending go.

However I must say I am grateful for this edit, and the great work behind it. But this movie needs more than a fix... can anyone save Prometheus?

This edit is nothing short of a triumph! It takes a deeply flawed film which polarised it's fan base and repairs and realigns some very dodgy plot holes and character motivations to make a much more coherent and more less maddening experience. Yes, the film still has it's problems, but Agent9 has created the best available version of Prometheus, one which I believe even Ridley Scott would enjoy.

Before I get into some of the editing choices here, let me first discuss the presentation. Simply put, this is the most professional and polished fan edit I've ever seen. From the a/v quality, the execution of the changes to the movie and the BD menus, this is gold standard work.

The colour timing of the the deleted scenes, for the most part, is indistinguishable from the finished film. And the new 5.1 mix created especially for those scenes is stellar work.

Moving on to the editing choices, most of which improve the film considerably and do away with nearly all of the annoying sloppy writing plot holes and idiocies. An odd side effect of that is that Agent9 has thrown a light on a couple of things that I never considered before. Take Holloway's wiggly eye worm. He makes much more sense in this edit with the reinsertion of some of his scenes so I caught myself wondering why would a trained scientist on an alien world ignore such a thing? When he trips and stumbles later he tries to brush it off then almost immediately he's shitting himself asking if there is something wrong with him. I couldn't help think how all of that would make more sense if the eye worm scene was gone and he didn't know there was something wrong with him until he asks Shaw what she sees.

Another thing I wondered about is why Weyland is no longer a "ghost" in the hologram. It neither hurts nor fixes anything for me so I was wondering why the editor made that choice. Maybe that is a point that other fans have problems with and Agent9 has taken their wishes into consideration.

Also I wondered why Elizabeth was lying on her back saying she can't go on, only to have the deus ex machina of David speaking to her from his detached head. Because this edit improves so many things I thought about that moment for the first time. I would have cut her bleating and started with David speaking to her.

The biggest question I have about the editing choices is the beginning TED scene... although it is nice on it's own and it gives us more of a sense of who Weyland is and why they put Guy in makeup, I still think most of that speech has little baring on the film or even spoils some of it. I loved David quoting Lawrence of Arabia but now he's just mimicking Weyland. I really think the point to cut out of that and go to titles is after he says "What have we done with it?"

And one final thing, why is Shaw not dead from drug and alcohol abuse? LOL! She sticks that morphine thing in herself so many times then goes straight for the Vodka (which incidentialy has the UK alcohol unit pink stamp on it that they use today).

This is an incredible piece of work. The end scene with Shaw and the Engineer is very exciting and edge of the seat stuff. The wire removals, added sound and colour timing here are a perfect storm of Fanediting prowess.

If anyone is a fan of Prometheus or is interested in Fanedits, PROMETHEUS - THE SPECIAL EDITION is for you!

I really dug this version of the movie. A lot of the idiotic plot holes in the original theatrical cut were thankfully corrected here, and most of the extended scenes that really never should have been cut (since in cutting some of them it makes the character's actions/dialogue not make much sense in the theatrical version) being restored was great. The editing and re-ordering of sequences was incredibly seamless and well done. Video quality overall was excellent.

That said, I had a couple of issues with this edit that held back more scores in some categories.

The first, and this was big one for me, was the lack of a surround track really hurt this edit. Prometheus has one of the best sounding audio tracks available on the market today, and hearing it compressed (both in number of channels and bitrate) into a stereo track hurt.

I enjoyed the use of some musical selections from the previous Alien films, but what I didn't like was the rather sloppily overlayed alien shrieking and hissing sound effects lifted from Aliens and inserted over top of the scene with the Fifield monster and the Deacon at the end. Those scenes already had their own sound effects, and overlaying it just came off really awkward.

I missed the opening with the Engineer. I liked the Weyland speech, but I would've liked to see both the extended opening (with the Elder Engineers) and the speech following directly after.

I wish the deleted scene with the subtitles for the Engineer had been used. It bugs me that you don't really know what he says in the original version and this cut since David doesn't translate it all (and if I remember correctly from the subtitled version he doesn't even translate accurately, though I believe that has something to do with his own agenda).

All that aside, this is still an excellent fanedit and in many ways is superior to the theatrical cut. Definitely recommended!!

Prometheus - Agent 9 edit

I enjoyed the theatrical release of this film. Critics or fanboys who complained, I shrugged at.
What did they expect? Scott has always been a loose director, permitting plot gaps and unanswered questions. I have no doubt that in ten years, Prometheus will be regarded as a Sci Fi classic.
What Agent 9 preformed was an outstanding overhaul.
He threw the yoke of structure onto the film and straightened the narrative. Taut, focused.
Everything he added, I enjoyed. Everything tossed ... well ... (SPOILER) ... I missed the opening Engineer sequence. Mainly because it was so visually arresting. To be honest, however, while cool looking it seemed disconnected from what followed. More parable than plot point. I warmed to the Weyland speech.
Other trims were fine, especially the two button heads who, as screened, seemed little more than comic Jar Jars.
I cannot stress how amazing the visual work was. Demo clinic time.
Sorry, quibbles.
The audio was two channel stereo. Visuals were spectacular, but the audio was two channel stereo. I mean, really?
The mp4 version was one long chapter. Like Prince’s “Lovesexy” or Lynch’s Mulholland Drive. One chapter. Please, more breaks next time.
Anyway, this is one helluva an edit, and I look forward to A9 repairing Prometheus 2 ...
.Update 2021
....….Only that never happened. Agent9 either lost passion for the hobby, or tired of the scuffles, or something else.
By and large, fanediting is a thankless endeavor. Many beg to view, few say thank you. That’s life.
As far as Prometheus 2, such a colossal fail.

Subs = Most of the subs for Agent 9’s edit are machine translated VonSubs. I fixed most timing errors and corrected OCR mangled words. Again, this srt is for Agent 9’s edit.
