Being a big Alien fan the theatrical release of Prometheus was a disappointment, on second viewing I enjoyed it more, probably due to my expectations being somewhat lowered.

This edit improves on the theatrical release for me and I certainly enjoyed watching it.

The movie flows better and the inclusion or removal of certain scenes make more sense. I liked the color correction and the excellent work on bringing the deleted scenes up to release quality. The use of original Alien theme music was also welcome although overall I found the music soundtrack to overwhelm the vocals in several places.

I've watched it twice now and can say for sure this is my favourite version! This is what it should have been!
I love how you've effectively cured most of the silly scenes and made others better flowing either by making them shorter with slight rearrangements, or with more effective music to suit the scene. Not to mention I loved the Alien music integration! Why Ridley left those scenes out I'll never know...they work so well! They gave more gravitas to Weyland's presence on the ship, the "love" between Charlie and Elizabeth that much more acceptable. David's motives becoming clearer. There were a couple of little gripes (nit picking really) - thought when Fifield says "I'm out of here" then walks off, there was silence which made it feel abrupt. As they were walking away Charlie could have said "pull yourself together" with the addition of an Alien "clunk" (the one you used upon landing). The Alien music just before the text appears when Prometheus is travelling through space near the beginning could have been filtered out less abruptly or even left to play through whole scene. A suggestion (though it may not fit well) would be when Charlie gets incinerated the screen goes bright white...could maybe have Ellie have a flashback to the engineer crumbling at the beginning of the original, fragmented. Reinforcing the theme that progress/evolution does not come without sacrifice. Would have ended the movie just when the "deacon" explodes out of the engineer revealing the back of it's head and used more sinister music when credits roll replacing Chopin. I love your use of colour correction - the look and feel of the movie is now in a more Alien vain. 9.5/10

Just finished watching the edit.
The technical side of it was certainly very strong. The cuts, the integration of the deleted scenes (save for Vickers/Janek intercutting with Shaw/David), the colour correction, the cleaned up FX were all flawless. The audio was pretty good as well, even if there were some mixing problems from time to time (dialogue mixed in the front channels, the score turned up too loud). All in all, brilliant work.

The only problem was that the movie felt a bit disorganised. I can't quite put my finger on it but I think the film flowed a bit better when I last watched the theatrical version. That said, I remember feeling the same way when I first watched it at the cinema, so perhaps it's just a question of repeated viewings.

Well, this is my first experience of a fan edit, although i had heard of the SW edits in the past. So i stumbled back into this world and this edit really caught my eye, primarily because i love Prometheus. It also interested me as i have read so much about the seemingly wasted potential of the current cut based on a changed script and the extras contained on the bluray etc.

Ok, long story short, i thought this edit was excellent. The narrative was much improved, with the TED sequence adding weight to why Guy Pearce is wearing 'old man' makeup later in the film (never really explained in the original cut). I felt that integration of the deleted scenes added much to the characters, providing the watcher with more information about their past which underlined their motivations and the decisions they were making in the present.

I'm not going to be critical of this release as frankly it was an almost flawless reconstruction of the original film. The quality of the edited soundtrack was occasionally harsh and over bearing and i had to re calibrate my display as the edit was over brightened compared to the original bluray. To be honest i feel guilty about the last 2 points as i'm over zealous on the pursuit of home cinema perfection so its just me being silly no doubt.

Anyway too long a review frankly but i was so totally blown away by the choices made by Agent 9, the quality of his work (which was nigh on flawless) and the improvement he made to a film i already love, that i registered just to provide my review and genuine thanks for his hard work :)

I really didn't care that much about Prometheus so I needed a fanedit to see it fixed.
I just thought "missed opportunity" and moved on.
Then I saw all these posts from new members asking rules-violating questions and that made me think that this must be really something if it attracted this much attention from people not familiar with the world of fanediting. So I had to see it.

The new opening is so much better and it is now more about the mission and less about Shaw's faith, something I felt was handled in such a cliché way. Not showing the dig at the beginning makes Shaw and Holloway look less like hard core fanatics that just travel to the other side of the universe because "they believe"

That religious "because that is what I choose to believe" dream sequence is now gone.
I think you should have cut more of the religious aspect out "we need a true believer aboard" etc.

I always thought that the briefing scene felt stupid; This scientific expedition cost around a trillion dollars and the people hired don't know what the mission is about before takeoff? It is only when they arrive at their destination that they are finally briefed (btw, taking off the helmet bullshit was the biggest failure in this movie imo. and that is not something that can be fixed with a a fanedit) maybe I'm nitpicking, let's move on.

With the two guys left behind it now doesn't feel like "...and while everyone else was off f***ing each other--"

The added scenes with Vickers and the Captain was nice (although when you cut back to Shaw and David it felt awkward) the conclusions that the Captain comes to later on and what he tells Shaw doesn't feel like taken from thin air anymore. Like the filmmakers needed a scene that
explains this and that to the audience and they just came up with something. This feels more natural.

Agent 9 saved this film as much as saving could be done. It's now more connected with the Alien franchise and I believe that is a good thing. The story is now more fleshed out and feel more whole.

If I could change one thing in this fanedit I would change the fight scene between Shaw and the engineer back to the original version. The idea that she would even stand a chance against this creature is really stretching my disbelief to the breaking point. It is so Hollywood, the final girl taking on the big monster. She wouldn't have stand a chance. And the OC was better in this regard.

This is the work of a true faneditor. The deleted scenes had unfinished effects which Agent 9 finished, he color corrected them, they had 2.0 audio so he remixed a new 5.1 track for them. The edit is in HD and there is even a 3d version. This could have been a dvd5 with all the deleted scenes being 2.0 with nothing done to the unfinished effects in them but this really is the Special Edition. Somewhere Ridley Scott probably gets a phone call from the studio saying that there is no need for a director's cut anymore...
