First and foremost, it should be mentionned that I did enjoy the theatrical version of Prometheus for what it was meant to be : a big scale summer blockbuster movie. Of course, it had its flaws (silly dialogues, non-scientific behaviors, an exploding dead head and two protagonists running away from a giant croissant to name a few).

When it came out on Blu-Ray, I watched it again but kept myself from watching the deleted scenes with the hope someone would come up with a “special edition”. As you may know, a couple of fanedits with the inclusion of the said deleted scenes as well as the viral videos have been released, and I’ve watched them all. What they have in common is that indeed a lot of things were added, not much was cut. And part of what was added was sometimes unfinished scenes/effects...

And then came Agent 9’s Special Edition! Wow, just wow! Not only did he fix the flaws mentionned in my introduction, but he also took the time and effort to complete the unfinished effects of certain deleted scenes and include them in his edit brilliantly! I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll only say this: anyone who watches the edit should “stay tuned” to the very end of the credits, for there’s an exhaustive list of cuts/additions/modifications that made me go “Oh true, that line of dialogue is gone!” or “True again, the exploding head is gone too!”. Speaking of credits, I also very much liked the new opening credits...closer to the mood set in Alien.

One more thing: this edit truly shows the work of a professional, for I did not spot any sound of picture problem (not meaning there is none, I simply did not notice any).

Phenomenal! This is my definite version of Prometheus that I’ll watch again and again! I don’t see how could anyone could do any better than this!

First, I must say that I really like the theatrical cut of Prometheus.
Now, on this fanedit:

It was really good, all the new and altered scenes are a great addition to this movie.
Especialy the new prologue with the TED conference, more character developpement on Vicker and the captain, and the extended combat against the engineer.
The work on this is really amazing, all those new effects are awesome!

Now, I got some nickpicking to do. First is the original prologue with the engineer that was totaly cut. I think it's a very important scene to explain more proprieties of the black goo, but I agree the the TED conference is a better prologue.

I also have some issues with some deleted stuffs:
Weyland not being "dead" (what does it change?),
Vicker and the captain sexual relationship (It even made more sense with all this new character developpement),
and most of the mentions of Shaw's father.
Those were not necessary , but I don't understand why they were cut.
The scenes about her father are not very important, but I think that most of David's obsession/curiosity about Shaw got cut right along and those were a part of his character.

All the Millburn/Fifield scenes that got removed was done masterfully. In this version they are not fleeing back to the ship and got lost, they are just exploring another area and got left behind. Great editing on this.
The editing was also amazing when the ship crashed and Vicker and Shaw ran away from the debris.

In conclusion, a powerful edit that hold strong in a standalone watch. But as a adaptation of Ridley Scott's work, it lost some of it's meaning like the proprieties of the black goo and the character of David. Which may make this edit inconsistent with an eventual sequel.
It was so close to become my definitive version of Prometheus, but I'll be sure to watch the other fanedits of Agent9 who got me very impressed.
PS: (I just wish I had a bluray burner to fully enjoy this edit)

The original Prometheus from 2012 was really hit and miss for me... Some scenes were great, just to be followed with unbearable dragged-out sections.

Here the narrative is improved a lot! It makes sense, the flow is never interrupted, it grips you and never lets go. The film doesn't became perfect but it looks as close as it can get

Many thanks to Agent 9 for all the work!

As other reviewers have said before, some of the deleted scenes that were added here (with otherwise great editing work) have some issues with the audio mix. But that's likely because of the source material, and Agent 9 did the possible best with it

I thought this was a great fanfix. The original was a big disappointment and this improves on it immensely. Can't say much without repeating all the other reviews. There were a couple of scenes that could have used more work where the added score drowned out the dialogue and it would have been nice to have 5.1 audio, but other than that it was excellent. Well done Agent 9. Highly recommended.

I like the theatrical cut of Prometheus just fine, but I like this one a whole lot more. Agent 9 has made some fantastic choices on when/how to cut a bunch of these scenes to mitigate the glaring flaws in the film's muddled and occasionally illogical and even lazy script. Most of them work flawlessly. I did feel like Fifield and Millburn got cheated out of their characters a bit in this version, having most of their lines cut. Granted, much of their dialogue wasn't that great to begin with, but now I have no idea who these people are, really. At the very least, the scene where they break from the rest of the exploratory party seemed needlessly truncated, with Fifield saying "I'm out of here" and taking Millburn along without a word from either him or the rest of the team. Many of the other characters benefit from added depth and more clearly-defined motivations though, thanks to some wisely reincorporated deleted footage.

There is some stunning editing on display here, major things like rearranging scenes for better flow, as well as really subtle stuff like touching up unfinished SFX and adding sound cues to enhance atmosphere and cover edits. The color correction, likewise, is gorgeous. Mostly, I was on board with the extra music, although the selection does lean pretty hard on the original Alien theme and the volume is overwhelming in several spots. I watched the 3D blu-ray, and the picture was generally terrific, barring the few deleted scenes that required post-converting. The drop in quality is noticeable to the point of distraction, but I appreciate the effort to clean these scenes up and convert them to 3D in the first place. The film is better for having them included.
Also, the entire disc is in side-by-side stereoscopic format, so it can be played on that 3D setting without having to burn to a disc, provided you have a way to mount the ISO. ;)

In conclusion, if you hated Prometheus, this probably won't change your mind. However, if, like me, you find it to be an enjoyable but deeply flawed film, give this edit a shot. It fixes many of the problems, and it carries a slightly stronger "Alien" vibe.
