This is a simple edit that inserts a couple of solid deleted scenes that really should have been in original cut, as all but one give more depth and humanity to Steve Rogers. Any fan of The First Avenger should check out the Star Spangled Edition for the definitive Captain America origin story.
A few slight technical tweaks could be made to improve the overall experience. Visually it's near perfect, only the extended ending scene in Time Square has some noticeably blurred out billboards that were digitally changed in the theatrical cut. It's not the most distracting thing. However, there are some more distracting audio issues, mainly the dialog track being limited to left-side only. There is also a brief moment in the Time Square scene where you can hear Nick Furry starting to ask if Steve will be okay - in the original audio from the theatrical cut. Not very noticeable again, just a nit pick. If the audio could be adjusted so that the dialog comes out stereo, it would be most excellent!

A typically excellent Bobson Extended Cut of an already very good Marvel movie, 2/3 of the deleted scenes don't impact the movie hugely -- although more Dum Dum Dugan is always appreciated -- however, extending the final scene with Nick Fury addresses a major problem that I've had since my first viewing, the obviously truncated explanation of Cap's revival. The little bit of extra detail beyond the line "you were asleep" lends some much-needed credibility to a plot element that the movie, the Cap franchise, and the entire MCU hangs its hats on.
My only qualm is that Bobson didn't add the additional footage of Steve struggling with life in the 20th century that was, apparently, part of an Acura commercial? The editor has even worked with the footage, posting an "Old Man Steve" mini-film on the message boards, and I wish that material, which leads directly into The Avengers, could have been added as a mid or post-credit sequence.
A wonderfully fun B+ movie elevated to an A-, but with that extra little bit it would be a full A in my books. (I urge anyone watching this edit to seek out that commercial in the meantime! It has more Stan Lee if that's your thing.)

One of the most under-rated Marvel films gets a Bobson Cut, which mostly just feels like some extended bits of the same film I knew and loved. (My full review is here: https://letterboxd.com/nottheacademy/film/captain-america-the-first-avenger/#comment-8976310) Nothing added here really altered my feeling about the film significantly, though I was happy to have the added bits. I listened to it with my headphones on and didn't notice any audio issues that way, so maybe the comments from other reviewers have to do with the 5.1 mix? For me, the only issues occurred at the very end (slight SPOILERS here): when Steve is talking to Nick in Times Square, the prominent vid screen most people call the "Coca Cola board" is blurred out for the whole scene. I'm not sure where this footage came from or why it's like that, but as it's in the center of the screen for many shots, I found it REALLY distracting. The second bit is the final post-credits scene, which Bobson has attached in an aspect ratio that leaves a black border around all edges. Personally, I found this really distracting as well, and would have preferred a slight zoom to get rid of the left and right borders. Oh, also, as I've seen in several other Bobson releases, there are no subtitles whatsoever. This is mostly not an issue, although there are a couple lines at the beginning here that should have been hard-coded as we have no hint at what the conversation is about.
All told, I still prefer having the extended/added scenes despite those issues, so this is a shelf-replacer for me, even though it's not perfect.

This simple fanedit adds a couple of minutes to the film but two great minutes all the same. I liked all the scene additions but especially the extended ending dialogue between fury and rogers. That was very needed in my opinion and i thank you bobson for adding that in. Also the commando scene was pretty decent at showing the group in action and both scenes i have just talked about should have been kept in in the original theatric cut. The only thing i didn't like all too much was the audio mixing, very unbalanced and some scenes sounded louded than others and that was pretty distracting. All in all its a great fanedit that doesn't add too much and flows pretty well!

I remembered this film as one of the weakest links in the early days of the MCU, but this edit really enhances its good traits. The pacing is great, the narrative is engaging - a wonderful introduction to Captain America.
I really loved the additional scene with the Howling Commandos - it added character to this group, which I think was missing in the theatrical cut.
One point was deducted off of the Audio/Video quality because I noticed something weird about the audio - it was not balanced properly. Both on 2.1 speakers and on my earphones, dialogues were only coming from the right speaker, whereas ambient noises came from the left. Other reviewers did not mention anything about it, but I checked in two players and got the same result. Weird.
All in all - a highly recommended edit.
