I should have reviewed this edit long ago. I'm not a fan of these types of movies other than Batman, Hulk and Superman.

We watched this edit, TM2YC's Blade Runner The Penultimate cut edit and Digmodification's Coaxium Heist edit the same evening in our home theater with friends.

I have/will review those edits separately.

All three edits were nearly perfect. None of us were able to find any technical glitches. We were aware of the narrative changes because we knew the movies.

This edit blends both movies together into a perfect viewing experience. Almost everything that detracted from the main plot is excised. Most senseless humour is gone.

Everyone else has said everything already. It's obvious that this is Mac's opus.

Congratulations on creating one of the very few MCU edits in rotation in our home theatre.

Excellent work!

This is the first edit I've seen. I wanted to watch both movies with a friend but in one sitting, with no noticeable change, less time, and less jokes (which I feel Endgame has too many of, for how sad IW is). It was the perfect edit, my friend knows both movies by heart and feels the edit was very well done. I saw them once, so I enjoyed it as a whole movie without realizing the differences. There was one scene I was expecting to see that was not there, but everything else, excellent.

Finally watched it!! Ok, now I understand what all the fuss was about, this edit is goddamn brilliant! It's not without its flaws, but it really doesn't matter, you can overlook them easily.

I had one issue with original Infinity War and two with Endgame. All three were addressed in this edit by 90%. I couldn't believe it! My issue with Infinity War was that it was a very serious movie with a shocking ending, but it had a little bit too many humorous scenes in it that were out of place or the jokes didn't land or both. Not all of them, some were actually funny and well placed. The editor simply eliminated this problem for me with his edit. So, Infinity War, check, fixed!

With Endgame I had the same issue as with Infinity War but here it was simply too much. Too many jokes, too much silliness. The second issue was that it was too long, almost three hours, without a reason. You could easily cut almost half an hour and the editor proved that! Granted, you can't fix fat Thor, but, oh well, it is what it is. To explain, there were times that I would prefer simply ending the Infinity Saga with the Infinity War movie than having to watch Endgame again. Not anymore! Endgame, check, fixed!

Besides the brilliant cuts throughout the edit, I really appreciated the fact that he incorporated the extra scenes from Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel etc. at the end of Infinity War so you don't have to watch Ant-Man 2 and Captain Marvel in between the two Avengers. I always thought this was a bad move from Marvel, releasing two very mediocre movies in between the two final Avengers, and I always watched them before the Avengers when I was having an MCU marathon. Now, I can still do it but without "ruining" continuity, I simply don't watch the post-credits scenes in those two films. Also, perfect transition from Infinity War to Endgame!

The reason I do not have a 10/10 in editing is because in some scenes, especially when Guardians find Thor in space, the cut is a little bit abrupt. Still prefer it though to all that ridiculous chattering about Thor's muscles etc.! And there are a couple more that you can kind of tell something was cut, but I seriously do not mind at all.

To be honest, I didn't watch it in one sitting, four and a half hours straight is a bit too much, but it doesn't matter, I just watched the two films separately.

So, as you can understand, I most definitely recommend this edit and unless you are a die-hard-purist-MCU fan, I guarantee you it will be your go-to version in future MCU marathons!

Thank you macmilln for all your hard work and thanks to anyone who read my review!

Summary: A fanedit combining Infinity War and Endgame into a single 4 hour experience. It succeeds it making the two films flow faster and making a seamless experience. The highlight being the visual cues to combine the two films as well as some re-arranging of Infinity War scenes to bring Steve Rogers into the film earlier. Yet, I still prefer to watch the two films separately as while the fanedit was solid, it's still too lengthy to be considered one film, it moves even faster when Infinity War in particular needed breathing room, and more importantly, the themes and structure of the two films were entirely different to deserve their own attention.

Long review:
This Fanedit is a two in one mix, combining the two films into one long 4 hour viewing experience. It’s not one I actually committed to watching in one sitting. The edit itself is mostly seamless from an auditory and visual perspective. Some cuts feels more hard than others (mostly the Guardians cuts), the cuts transition from one film to the next are seamless though.

As a film itself, I enjoyed this experience but it’s not a replacement of the two individual films. Let’s talk about what I loved, I loved being able to revisit these films in a quickened and shorter pace. I love the removal of some (but not all) jokes to retain some of the seriousness and dourness of the situation, sometimes Marvel has a tendency to letting too much air out of the balloon when it comes to these things. The transition between the two films is pretty awesome visually, using the Captain Marvel beeper as the unifying factor, admittedly it works very well here and brings her into the fold nicely. Like any fanedit, some cuts were not missed, some were. And obviously I really love these two films so the plot and things are all great. Let me also add, that some of the rearranging really helps bringing Cap and the “On the run” Crew into the fold earlier, making Cap a main player throughout the films rather than a long gap throughout Infinity War that I remember. Also I don’t remember if the original film begins with Thanos and little Gamora, but I liked that as a prologue here.

As for the things that didn’t work for me, I know the intention is to show all of the effects of the snap, but the Ant-Man and the Wasp scene doesn’t work for me, the snap in Infiinity is dour, the whole Ant-man scene (down to its soundtrack is jovial and jokey), so it really doesn’t fit for me here as is. The Hawkeye, and especially the Fury and Hill scenes fit more so. The pacing feels off, and honestly, I feel some of the slower pace, particularly in Infinity War is necessary, it’s such a fast paced movie that we could have used some moments to catch our breath. The Guardians in particular get shafted in this version, as we spend even less time with them, and they’re left off in a different place than the films intended. Also I think the two films just work better as two separate films, Thanos is basically the protagonist/lead character of Infinity War, while Endgame switches to the Avengers, so they work much better as two separate films.

Not replacement worthy but certainly worth a look and probably the best version of a two in one that one can get.
