I don't know if it was the streaming service's fault (FireMerk's) but I couldn't help but notice how the sound was a bit weird. But who cares about that when the story gets such an amazing upgrade. I know we're far away from movies ditching the one-liners but this is an awesome showcase of how much it helps the flow of the movie overall.

As a huge fan of Tron: Legacy, and the rest of Joseph Kosinski's filmography, I was intrigued by the prospect of an improved version of the already fantastic film, but where I was hoping for perfection, pun intended, I got something that felt more hollow than the original. Now the editing alone was absolutely fantastic. Daft Punk's score is seamlessly, and I mean seamlessly, altered to fit the newly shrunken and trimmed scenes, and whilst what was cut was cut well, I feel this edit took out too much of what I liked and left a lot to be desired in the long run. Comedy lines which showed the naivety of characters were removed to make the story more serious and although I understand the desire to jump right into the grid and remove CGI Kevin Flynn from the opening, but these moments set up a character dynamic of father and son, the very thing that this edit sought out to reinforce. It's possible that objectively this edit is superior, but it removed the heart from the film and left a quirky sci-fi as a hollow shell of its former self. Great editing skills, but poor choice of scenes.

Not for me, this one!

Keo's done an admirable job trying to morph this film into something it was never meant or going to be, but as another reviewer mentions, when you take off all the spit and duct tape holding the narrative together, there's really not a lot left to propel it along other than the, admittedly gorgeous, visuals. It's still a fun ride despite, but trimming this much 'fat' leaves the whole thing feeling a bit anemic.

On a technical level the cuts made are mostly fine, though many are made 'off the beat' which throws a lot of scenes off their rhythm and the music cues into disarray; tone at the expense of feel. Also the audio quality is strangely low-bitrate, much of the higher-end frequencies are crushed entirely and there is a lot of crackling/clipping in louder parts. This is from the "2022 quality update v1.03". The sound design and music are such a huge part of this experience and it was a shame to have that noticeably degraded.

Thank you for the review! I'll take a look at the technicals, and I am glad you still found a fun ride in spite of it being a bit thin now!!

Brilliant edit. Much of the bloat was removed, leaving a much leaner, more focused cut. This is the true successor to TRON, with no time wasted on meaningless shoe-horned sub-plots. Just enough time is spent in the real world to establish Sam's character, then it's off to the digital...and let's face it, that's why you bothered to watch a TRON sequel. Very clever use of dialog from some of the cut scenes as voice-overs to fill in the backstory where needed. I would definitely recommend this edit to any fan of the TRON series!

Saw this at the theatre (remember them?) when it was released in IMAX no less. I was hopinh it would be as good as the first film. Well, I walked out and asked for a refund. Didn't get it. This edit I could actually sit and watch. I was even able to stomach the lunch I was eating. I do enjoy Wakeupkeos edits. They have helped so much for this "pandemic". I might be a little biased as "he" is a bit on the local side. This edit is a good afternoons watch. And as I have said in other reviews. I look at the pure enjoyment of the edit. I don't really bother with the techie stuff. I am looking forward to Wakes next project.
