The structure had a marginal improvement in the overall quality of the film. The chapter-based transitions felt more tarantino-esque which had a much less bitter taste in comparison to the mess that is the original film. A fortuitous effort in making the film actually re-watchable. As someone who saw the original in theaters, After digesting it, i felt disappointed, and wished a version like your edit was what I could've seen in the first place. Excellent Job!

Joseph quinns edit of suicide squad seeks to right some of the wrongs of the theatrical cut by removing some if the more obnoxious aspects of the theatrical cut such as some of the soundtrack choices and cleverly reworking the once annoying, pointless, and seemingly random bright neon flashy camera effects into flashback sequences flawlessly. The movie has been heavily restructred providing a more compelling plot that unfolds far more naturally and has a greater sense of plot progression than the theatrical version. Breaking this once very unstructred movie into chapters was also a very good call. Overall i definitely recommend this fan edit and it will be taking its place in my future dc marathons over the travesty of the theatrical cut. Great job.

When a lot of people were being critical of the original cut of this movie, I was an apologist for it. I enjoyed it. That doesn't mean that I didn't see room for improvement. Pacing was rough, the time skips were jarring sometimes, and the "comic" book stylings of the story jumps (i.e. introductions of the squad) were not great.

This edit is now my go-to for when I want to watch this movie. The reordering of the scenes was well done. The movie pacing issues were resolved for the most part. Don't get me wrong, you can only do so much with the source material, and I'm not looking for miracles. Also, the introductions and backstories for the squad was much much better and felt more organic.

If I had a critique, I would say the background music was a little loud at times. It made it a little hard to hear the conversations and/or narration taking place. Also, and I saw this in another review as well, the black title screens that broke up the chapters should be reviewed. I mean, they did their job, they just need something. Not sure what, I'm not an editor, but I'll know it when I see it. Maybe the transition to them could be changed. They just need something to be more polished.

Overall, I really good edit and, like I said previously, this is my default choice for re-watching this movie.

Thank you for your time in making this. Myself and my wife both enjoyed it.

That's a fresh and very interesting take on the 2016 SSQ film. I really enjoyed the chaptering, the titles were wisely chosen, but like the person below me suggested, it would've been better without the black screen. I also believe that it would've flowed better if the movies opens directly on Waller's meeting, the footage from the opening intros with June and Harley could've been useful to add some meat during Waller's briefing.
As for the audio, I loved that you completely removed the music during the Deadshot scene, it worked so much better. And I think that the whole film shouldn't feel like a jukebox movie. Minor complaint, but the music that kicks in the Killer Croc intro is too loud, so we don't hear the dialogue clearly.
As for the narrative, it's great and flows smoothly. But I think that you should've used a flashback effect after the Warden gives the concealed phone to Harley, the way it jumps directly to confused Joker going to Louisianna feels a little weird when you're not familiar with the movie.

Last thing, the nerd in me didn't help but notice that when Enchantress frees her brother, she should refer to Darkseid and his generals as the New Gods and not the Old Gods.

Overall, it's a very promising edit that greatly improves the original, it just needs a little polishing.

You know what... you're right! I've changed the subtitle to New Gods for version 2! I also adjusted music levels and made other tweaks based on the reviews!

However, I've chosen to leave the title screens as is for now. They're meant to emulate the style of the titles in Zack Snyder's Justice League, though it'd be a fun challenge to find a way to make them more ingrained, like the chapters in The Suicide Squad.

Finally, another attempt to try and make something good out of this mediocre movie!

And I've got to say upfront, Josephdquinn did it and made this my new go to for any future DCEU marathons! I say new because before I had Wakeupkeo's edit to watch, I actually watched it 2-3 times (more than I did the original film) to the point I had forgotten what was cut out. Thankfully, Joseph's was quite different from Keo's and he reminded me that I actually enjoyed many of the scenes that were cut.

I'll begin with the two big changes that you see right from the beginning of the movie, the title chapters and the rearranged intro of the characters. I liked both of those changes a lot, but, for the intro part, I believe the Enchantress and the Harley bit should be in their big intros when the movie begins. Enchantress, for a main character, has very little flashbacks, so cutting them even shorter just to put a couple of scenes between the logos, didn't worth it. For the Harley one, I just found it a bit out of place in general and I believe another reason that it would best to put it with the rest of the proper introduction, is because Joker mentions the machine guns, so we can definitely put it before the scene were Joker's gang busts in shooting everything and everyone. Plus, more Harley/Margot Robbie time without interruptions from other scenes inbetween!

When it comes to chapters, although I liked the idea a lot, I believe it would work better if it was done without the black screen, like putting the letters on a wall or the sky, something like that (I'm just giving random examples to be more clear about what I mean). Maybe this can't be done, I have no idea, if not, then that's fine. Also, the sound before chapter 4 title, where Flag is looking at something or thinking, is cut a little bit abrupt. Now that I mention the sound, at the first chapter were all the intro songs are playing, I think at some point with Deadshot inside the prison, the song was too loud, I had a hard time hearing the dialogue.

A last thing I noticed from the visual side of things, I don't know it's my pc's fault though but this didn't happen with Keo's version, at the last scene from the fight with the Enchantress were they must throw the bomb and shoot it and everything is in slow motion, the slow motion wasn't smooth. It looked like there was low frame rate or something, the image was "jumpy".

Moving on from these nitpickings of mine, the edit was freaking excellent! I enjoyed the movie immensely, even though this must be like the fifth time I'm watching this and also, I watched it after having seen Wakekeo's edit like a couple of days before! So, the editor had a really hard job in winning me over. The audio and visual edit was excellent, besides the couple of things I mentioned previously, and I seriously think that if this version was what we got at the cinemas, it would have gone a lot better. I also enjoyed the changes in the soundtrack!

I can see this edit having a v.2 easily, if the editor has the time of course, and it will elevate it even more. I highly recommend this edit and I guarantee you it will be your go to for any future DCEU marathons, provided you found the original film at least mediocre, otherwise I don't think any editor can do anything for you.

Thank you Josephdquinn for all your hard work and thank to anyone who read my review!
