I have just watched this Agent 9's fan edit of Prometheus. To begin with, let me say that Prometheus is a very bad movie, and nothing seems to change this fact. I thought maybe a new edit could have saved it, but it is still what it is, and Prometheus basic concepts are embarrassingly ridiculous.

With that said, I'll leave my thoughts about the movie, and continue with the actual edit. This version is a feat in itself , and manages to rescue many of the very worst parts. By cutting away a lot of unnecessary and - above all - silly parts, the film is worth seeing, without compromising on quality. Speaking of quality, it is topnotch and I did not notice any new edits or other adjustments.

(Be warned, possible spoilers ahead:)

Agent 9 has chosen to remove several parts that are terribly bad, such as the exploding head, Fifields ridiculous howl and the scene where Vickers and Janek decides to leave the control bridge to have some private time. This last mentioned change does however lead to a logical gap: if Janek would not have left the control bridge, he would reasonably noted that Fifield and Milburn were in trouble. Which of course might have lead to another chain of events. However, I prefer this change, it makes Janek much more credible and captain-like.

I am not sure that the color corrections were necessary, but since I did not notice them, I guess they were well considered.

I liked all added scenes, they give the movie more depth.

What I did not like:

As for the sound, I noticed that the applause at the opening scene sounds rattling, like sound with low quality.

Im have not compared, but I suspect that some scenes where cut, when Prometheus is entering the alien planet. I wish that some of these were kept, because they add lot of atmosphere, and are a beautiful and almost poetic part of the movie.

Other than that, I believe that Agent 9 done an excellent job and would highly recommend this version before the theatrical version.

Hi there!

I find this fanedit to be technically perfect. The work is awesome from the beginning. I also find it a success to start with the TED speech and what follows gives the movie a great start.

However from then on, I find the original movie to be almost unfixable, and I find the edits fall too short. I rather Beezo's work on the first alien encounter, and also his corrections as far as the ending go.

However I must say I am grateful for this edit, and the great work behind it. But this movie needs more than a fix... can anyone save Prometheus?

I've found my favorite version of Prometheus. I didn't notice any audible defects (though, I did watch this late at night and had the volume down so I wouldn't wake anybody!) and the visual editing was always strong, no stray frames or sudden jump cuts. The MP4 version could have had better video quality, but the promise of a revised version on Blu-ray makes me a happy camper!

My only real quibble was the use of the original theatrical ending where Shaw and David have their discussion about going to "Paradise" before they rappel to the ground. As was mentioned in the forum, her choice of words calling David a "f***ing robot" was a bit more realistic given how much he had put her through. Also, I loved Rapace's delivery of the line. :P

Great job, A9! I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Everything you'd hope it would be, professionally created with main issues from original subtly removed and deleted scenes recut and edited in where they should be to drive the story.

It speaks for itself as when the scene where they are running back to the ship without fifield and milburn came about my girlfreind mention what about the other two guys left behind.
That emotional attachment wouldnt of been there if they were originaly "lost".

The only very small issues for me were when the deleted alien worm scene was cut to slightly fast and the final engineer meeting scenes colour seemed to be darker and not in line with the main movies visual presentation, both are small imperfections to an otherwise epic edit.

It would of helped to be in any format of 5.1 audio instead of 2.0 PCM but that said this is by far the cannon in my eyes

Well Done Agent9

Prometheus - Agent 9 edit

I enjoyed the theatrical release of this film. Critics or fanboys who complained, I shrugged at.
What did they expect? Scott has always been a loose director, permitting plot gaps and unanswered questions. I have no doubt that in ten years, Prometheus will be regarded as a Sci Fi classic.
What Agent 9 preformed was an outstanding overhaul.
He threw the yoke of structure onto the film and straightened the narrative. Taut, focused.
Everything he added, I enjoyed. Everything tossed ... well ... (SPOILER) ... I missed the opening Engineer sequence. Mainly because it was so visually arresting. To be honest, however, while cool looking it seemed disconnected from what followed. More parable than plot point. I warmed to the Weyland speech.
Other trims were fine, especially the two button heads who, as screened, seemed little more than comic Jar Jars.
I cannot stress how amazing the visual work was. Demo clinic time.
Sorry, quibbles.
The audio was two channel stereo. Visuals were spectacular, but the audio was two channel stereo. I mean, really?
The mp4 version was one long chapter. Like Prince’s “Lovesexy” or Lynch’s Mulholland Drive. One chapter. Please, more breaks next time.
Anyway, this is one helluva an edit, and I look forward to A9 repairing Prometheus 2 ...

....….Only that never happened. Agent9 either lost passion for the hobby, or tired of the scuffles, or something else.
By and large, fanediting is a thankless endeavor. Many beg to view, few say thank you. That’s life.
As far as Prometheus 2, such a colossal fail.

Subs = Most of the subs for Agent 9’s edit are machine translated VonSubs. I fixed most timing errors and corrected OCR mangled words. Again, this srt is for Agent 9’s edit.
