I watched this edit again recently and felt I had to add another review.
Agent 9 has done some fantastic work adding in deleted scenes even going so far as completing the SFX on some which still required wire removal etc. The video quality is excellent.
I too felt that Fifield and Milburn receive more cuts than they deserved, their leaving the exploration team was so abrupt I actually said "What?" out loud.
I still feel the musical score was very overwhelming in some places, occasionally drowning out the characters or effects, but other than that there are no obvious audio flaws,
These gripes aside, I still enjoyed the edit far more than the original, and enjoyed it as a fanedit even more the second time around.

Keep up the great work Agent 9 ^_^

I like the theatrical cut of Prometheus just fine, but I like this one a whole lot more. Agent 9 has made some fantastic choices on when/how to cut a bunch of these scenes to mitigate the glaring flaws in the film's muddled and occasionally illogical and even lazy script. Most of them work flawlessly. I did feel like Fifield and Millburn got cheated out of their characters a bit in this version, having most of their lines cut. Granted, much of their dialogue wasn't that great to begin with, but now I have no idea who these people are, really. At the very least, the scene where they break from the rest of the exploratory party seemed needlessly truncated, with Fifield saying "I'm out of here" and taking Millburn along without a word from either him or the rest of the team. Many of the other characters benefit from added depth and more clearly-defined motivations though, thanks to some wisely reincorporated deleted footage.

There is some stunning editing on display here, major things like rearranging scenes for better flow, as well as really subtle stuff like touching up unfinished SFX and adding sound cues to enhance atmosphere and cover edits. The color correction, likewise, is gorgeous. Mostly, I was on board with the extra music, although the selection does lean pretty hard on the original Alien theme and the volume is overwhelming in several spots. I watched the 3D blu-ray, and the picture was generally terrific, barring the few deleted scenes that required post-converting. The drop in quality is noticeable to the point of distraction, but I appreciate the effort to clean these scenes up and convert them to 3D in the first place. The film is better for having them included.
Also, the entire disc is in side-by-side stereoscopic format, so it can be played on that 3D setting without having to burn to a disc, provided you have a way to mount the ISO. ;)

In conclusion, if you hated Prometheus, this probably won't change your mind. However, if, like me, you find it to be an enjoyable but deeply flawed film, give this edit a shot. It fixes many of the problems, and it carries a slightly stronger "Alien" vibe.

Just finished watching the edit.
The technical side of it was certainly very strong. The cuts, the integration of the deleted scenes (save for Vickers/Janek intercutting with Shaw/David), the colour correction, the cleaned up FX were all flawless. The audio was pretty good as well, even if there were some mixing problems from time to time (dialogue mixed in the front channels, the score turned up too loud). All in all, brilliant work.

The only problem was that the movie felt a bit disorganised. I can't quite put my finger on it but I think the film flowed a bit better when I last watched the theatrical version. That said, I remember feeling the same way when I first watched it at the cinema, so perhaps it's just a question of repeated viewings.

Well, this is my first experience of a fan edit, although i had heard of the SW edits in the past. So i stumbled back into this world and this edit really caught my eye, primarily because i love Prometheus. It also interested me as i have read so much about the seemingly wasted potential of the current cut based on a changed script and the extras contained on the bluray etc.

Ok, long story short, i thought this edit was excellent. The narrative was much improved, with the TED sequence adding weight to why Guy Pearce is wearing 'old man' makeup later in the film (never really explained in the original cut). I felt that integration of the deleted scenes added much to the characters, providing the watcher with more information about their past which underlined their motivations and the decisions they were making in the present.

I'm not going to be critical of this release as frankly it was an almost flawless reconstruction of the original film. The quality of the edited soundtrack was occasionally harsh and over bearing and i had to re calibrate my display as the edit was over brightened compared to the original bluray. To be honest i feel guilty about the last 2 points as i'm over zealous on the pursuit of home cinema perfection so its just me being silly no doubt.

Anyway too long a review frankly but i was so totally blown away by the choices made by Agent 9, the quality of his work (which was nigh on flawless) and the improvement he made to a film i already love, that i registered just to provide my review and genuine thanks for his hard work :)

Prometheus is to Alien / Aliens what The Phantom Menace is to the original Star Wars trilogy. Fanedits fixed much of the dire mess that is The Phantom Menace and I was hoping, as I endured Prometheus in the cinema, that they'd do the same for it.

And they have. There several worth watching, and this is very definitely one of them.

There are still problems - big ones - but they're down to the script writers. So the egregious science is still there, from the awful archaeology of the briefing onwards, and many of the cast still do very stupid things. But it's much better than the theatrical version.

The picture quality is great, even on the .mp4 version. There are a couple of audio glitches, but the sound quality also reflects the excellent work done on this.

.. but my favourite fanedit is still the Xenomorph edition, which cuts even more of the crap out.
