Walking Dead: Night of the Walking Dead

It has been so long since I've watched seasons one and two of The Walking Dead, probably because I find my spare-time gradually being limited as the years go by. Thankfully ranger613's edit has allowed me once again to view the beginnings of this great show.
For a WD fan like myself watching this I knew what scenes had been cut, but this did not effect the overall narrative of the edit, as was the editor's intention, their removal helped move the story along.
Video and audio editing was 100% perfect to my eyes and ears. If you have family or friends who have never seen an episode of the show and are somewhat reluctant to watch a show about zombies, get them watching this edit and in no time they will be wanting to not only see seasons 3 and 4 but also the full 1st and 2nd seasons.
Looking forward to the blu-ray release of season 4 and to see what your edit of 3&4 will be like.
Not wanting to spoil it for anyone yet to see it but I loved the post-credit scene.

Of the 3 Walking Dead edits currently available, this one is my favourite, although it is not without issues. The editor takes us on a wild ride through the first two seasons. The edit moves at breakneck speed and is a lot of fun. Just don't ask any questions about why certain characters said what they said or did what they did.

The title is a little strange. I get the reference to the classic movie, but this edit takes place over several weeks and doesn't really make sense. There are tons of little narrative issues throughout, an unfortunate effect of keeping the pace quick and chopping so much character development. That's another downfall - by keeping just the action and necessary plot points and chopping the character development, the audience ends up not getting invested in the fates of any of the characters. By the end of it, I didn't care whether anyone lived or died - everyone, even Rick, was expendable at that point. The ending isn't really an ending. We've survived the swarm at the farm and there's a far-away shot of.... some big institutional-type building. Having watched the show, we all know that this is the prison, but in the context of a stand-alone movie, it means nothing.

Having said all of that, this is certainly a fun ride and recommended for fans of the show. Just don't think about it too much.

Wonderful job!! I LOVE this show, and well, ALL things Zombie.... That being said, I loved that this was edited down into ONE solid story arc, movie style. After a 5 day power outage in my area due to bad weather, and seeing the 'post apocalyptic' affect it had on my neighborhood, this was a very enjoyable distraction from everyday reality. Thanks for letting me experience this, I can't wait for the next one.....

Walking Dead if any series needs fanedits as the show is a wreck with its moments nowadays. Now season 1 was solid but season 2 was quite bad. This fanedit makes the two seasons into a 3 hours' action packed movie that lacks a proper ending.

First I must mention the same as many others did before, there are a lot of continuation issues with characters disappearing without any explanations. Also some of the dialogue doesn't make any sense, especially towards the ending with the Shane stunt. That being said the edit is still a lot of fun as it takes a lot of jarring moments and annoying dialogue away. I watched it in 2 separate parts and I have to say that I wasn't bored at any moment, so the phasing was good.

Some mentioned that there was little character building in the fanedit. While it's true I think all the character building was always so bad in Walking Dead that I didn't mind.

Technically it was quite decently edited.. A few camera cuts felt a bit out of the place but nothing that major. The video quality is okay considering that the source material is heavily grained, something that I don't like at all.

In a nutshell: a bit confusing albeit fun ride from beginning to the end.


I wish someone would make the whole series into a grand fanedit with several parts. All the seasons after the 4th are a big mess but I think a good fanedit could make me want to re-watch the whole show.
