Absolute masterpiece of an edit! The quality of the changes really transformed a mediocre movie that disappointed me 11 years ago into an actual good narrative of Kevin Flynn coming to terms with himself and his own failures. This tone change shifts the entire "Tron: Legacy" film from being a cash grab attempt into a solid sequel — which brings the message of the original movie full circle and ends on the logical conclusion of acceptance of mistakes and growth past them.

I have been a massive Daft Punk fan from when their Homework album was out in 1997; and I loved the original "Tron" movie. In fact, I don't think I'd have the career I have without films like it interesting me in computer science. Over a decade ago, when I heard the announcements that a new Tron movie was coming out and Daft Punk was doing the film score, I just lost my mind and couldn't wait to see it. After watching the original theatrical cut in theaters though... I didn't know how to feel afterwards. The music was great, but everything else just felt so "off" and just disjointed and sloppy. It was like the movie didn't really know what it wanted to be. This edit really changes all of that. I sincerely wish that this edit was what the original release was more like.

I highly recommend that everybody watch this edit!

I haven’t watched TRON: Legacy in a few years, so I was excited to take this for a spin. I enjoyed this so much more than the original movie. It was amazing how Sam’s character development was so concisely executed, and getting into the game world ASAP. From there, I couldn’t pinpoint the changes since I hadn’t watched the movie in so long, but nothing at all felt “off”, jarring, out of sequence, etc. I’ve doubled back to peruse the full list of changes and I certainly do not miss anything that has been cut. This edit is THE definitive version, and I’ll be watching it again and again. Great job!!!

A brilliant edit, and definitely a lot closer to a worthy sequel to Tron,
I really loved this edit - the trimming creates a streamlined narrative, which in turn allows us to focus on the plot and the world without annoying distractions or terrible lines. I also greatly appreciated the work done on trimming the "born sexy yesterday" trope - Thank you!
Two little things that bothered me:
(1) The new introduction, while being 'straight and to the point', feels like an info-dump. Not the greatest tool for exposition, but considering the source materials it is understandable.
(2) During the meeting with Castor/Zuse, the soundtrack changes three or four times in the span of 4 minutes. While I appreciate the cuts that were made, the constant changes made the scene feel... rushed.
Either way, this edit is highly recommended.

I love the original movies, warts and all. That said, this is a great edit. It makes what is for me an already enjoyable movie even better.

The faster shift into the grid was a good decision. There is just enough preamble to get a sense of Sam's issues with his dad disappearing on him. Then we are off on the digital adventure without dwelling on things. This pace acceleration works throughout the edit without getting too frantic anywhere.

Each character is improved with the trims. Wakeupkeo definitely achieves the goal with Quorra--she comes across much better than the release version (really my biggest quibble with it). The decision to keep to only Clu with the digitized young Kevin face works; it's subtle but effective. Also not dwelling on the extended background on the Isos worked. There's enough to get a sense of what happened, where Quorra comes from, and the relationship & responsibility Kevin feels.

The trims at the end were really effective. No need to draw that out. And finally, the ending credit rescore was totally right.

Great edit. I actually really enjoyed the original but did think it was overlong. Now, at 90 mins it's straight into the video game world and the rest moves along at a brisk pace. The edit looks fantastic for the file size but the dialog level is quite low. A strong contender for edit of the month.

Thank you for the kind review!
Working on a new version with audio dialogue raised a bit as we speak!
