Release Information:
Digital
Cuts and Additions:
The first 57 minutes of the original film have been deleted, with some of the scenes repurposed for Episode 4: The Gleam Of An Unsheathed Sword.
All flashbacks have been deleted.
Six new songs have been added, replacing various songs in the original film. Big thanks to @krausfadr for converting the stereo tracks I had into 5.1 tracks.
Start of the Volume 2 fan edit: The Bride is in the coffin.
New SFX of crickets prior to the camera going down to The Bride in the coffin. This audio has now been extended slightly, so that it starts when the black screen appears prior to the shot of the gravesite area.
Shortened coffin scene, which required rebuilding SFX, plus I added in new SFX of a heartbeat, which changes pace and intensity as the scene goes on.
Deleted the scene of The Bride going to the café after breaking out of the coffin.
All title or Act screens removed.
Shortened the scenes of The Bride walking through the desert, plus added in different music to the original film.
All conversations between Elle and Budd have been trimmed or cut for pacing.
Deleted the scene in the classroom, where The Bride’s name gets revealed.
Trimmed the phone conversation between Elle and Bill, in order to improve pacing.
Remove Elle saying “Gross!” during the confrontation with The Bride.
Trimmed the conversation during Elle & The Bride’s duel, plus removed the flashback to the scenes with Pai Mei.
As The Bride leaves the trailer, I have inserted some new music.
Repurposed one scene from Volume 1: The Bride asking for a plane ticket to Tokyo.
Almost all scenes of The Bride on the plane going to Japan have been removed, with some scenes used in Episode 4 instead.
Trimmed the scenes of O-Ren and her cadre travelling around Tokyo, on their way to the Blue Leaves club.
I have timed the music to better match the camera movements.
New SFX of The Bride on the Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, including some SFX recorded by @greenturnedblue
Blue Leaves club: trimmed the opening, as well as several scenes throughout the sequence, as well as removed some of the music. I relocated one song to a different part of the film, plus rebuilt SFX where necessary.
In some scenes, I retimed the visuals to more closely match the flow of the music.
Epic battle sequence with the Crazy 88’s: With thanks to @Wraith and @INIGHTMARES I have used the Japanese version of that part of the battle, with upscaled all-colour footage.
Removed Sophie saying "Gross"! after one of the Crazy 88's gets his eye removed.
Removed Sophie surviving at the end, and removed The Bride saying that she should stay where she is. I want to imply that she dies in this edit.
I have replaced one of the songs during the battle sequence.
Forced subtitles for the Japanese language section have been done to match the original text as closely as possible. I have also gone through the subtitles and made sure that spelling, grammar, punctuation and translations are as good as they can be.
After O-Ren is defeated and The Bride sits down, I’ve done a different edit of the music to what is in the original film.
I have relocated the shots of the mountains and trees, which originally came after Beatrix left the trailer after confronting Elle. I have also inserted some rainforest SFX for these scenes, and deleted the original music.
Beatrix and Esteban: these scenes have been deleted.
Beatrix at Bill’s place: these scenes have been trimmed for pacing.
Beatrix with BB: I have removed the original music, and added a new song.
Beatrix with Bill: I have removed the original music, added a new song, as well as some new SFX.
Also deleted is the flashback to Beatrix finding out that she is pregnant, and her confrontation with the assassin.
Two new pieces of music have been inserted when we see BB watching TV, and when Beatrix is crying in the bathroom near the end of the film.

I'm going to be similarly judgmental on this as I was on my review of Episode 4 and as noted in that review I'm going to be a bit of a stickler on this looking at the scope and idea of the overall project as I saw it going in and by that I mean the objective as I read it was to take EACH of Tarantino's 10 films and turn them into 60 minute stand alone episodes so I questioned why we were pulling we pulling scenes from Part I and why is the Part 1 O-Ren end scene was one of the more prominent aspects of this Episode.

As a singular episode it worked a lot better than Episode 4 as far as enjoyment goes but that was bound to happen because Episode 4 set up a lot of the action etc. that was to come in Episode 5. The video and audio editing was great even if I didn't agree with some of the musical changes - for example one stand out from memory was the music choice for the Bill death scene - that didn't fit for me but that is all personal choice. The scene rearrangement worked much better for this edit and felt like more of a single episode AFTER watching Episode 4 because that ended on a cliffhanger making this seamlessly flow from that point. As a first time watch you get the unfair advantage that I'm looking at it as a continuation of Episode 4 - something greenturnedblue didn't have

Once again I emphasize that this was always going to be the more enjoyable of the 2 Kill Bill episodes due to the material in this edit but once again really feel this was better suited as a combined 2 hour - 2 editor release separate from this project that big picture would have scored 10's across the board for me. Yourself and greenturnedblue collectively really put together a great feature. I would've liked to see what could've been done to edit Kill Bill Part 2 as a 60 minute episode as opposed to pulling stuff from Part I and vice versa (and once again that is me being a stickler to what I perceived as the overall scope of this project)

Good work Phase3!!!

I enjoyed this part more than the first, but the way this 2-part edit was conceived, this half was always going to be the more dynamic of the two, since all of the setup was taken care of in the first part. But also, it flows better, It has a better scene-to-scene rhythm. It's not exactly a 3-act structure since the Japan sequence takes up 50% of the runtime right in the middle, with the Elle/Bud sequence begun in Part 1 resolved beforehand and the Bill sequence taking up the last quarter. But since the Japan sequence itself comprises both the Crazy 88 fight and the whole O-Ren garden confrontation, the film feels nicely balanced. It's a shame that it came, somewhat, at the expense of part 1, because the setup for O-Ren would make a lot more sense IMO in this part. I can't help but wonder what a two part Kill Bill edit with the same split point would look like were some things moved around to make each part stand on their own the way the original films do.
There are some music replacements here, and they are consistently surprising and occasionally big swings. I'm a fan of big swings, so kudos, but I do think they are ultimately a mixed bag. I was really pleased with what was done at the House of Blue Leaves all the way through, but there were some very un-Tarantino choices in the rest of the film that detracted from the overall feel for me. I adore Sonic Youth, but I don't feel like they belong here. Music complaints aside, the actual editing of the sound was done very well.
As far as visual editing, I had a couple of issues. At about 13 minutes, there are a few dropped frames and a purple bar that sticks around for a couple of seconds. Probably an issue with the rendering. Also, whatever was done with the Japanese subtitles completely removed them for me. They simply were not present, and there were no subtitles to select. Also, while I can appreciate the decision to keep the color sequence for the Crazy 88 fight, there's a shot at 30:21 where one of them sprays blood that had no color at all, just water. Considering there were some really excellent trims to this scene and those immediately surrounding it, that shot probably should have been one of them as it stuck out like a sore thumb in that sea of red. Other than those issues, the edit flowed well and looked great.

If you enjoyed part 1, I'm sure you will enjoy this part. And if you were iffy on part 1, I would say this one is still worth checking out. I have my issues, but this is still some solid work.

Very enjoyable. more than the originals in a lot of ways. My only critique would have been to put the anime introduction in this episode.

Loved it, can't speak on just exactly what I loved so much, because I don't want to spoil anything. But this pairs very well with vol. 1. I loved the editing on this one as well. Felt better, for me, than the original film. Another amazing episode.
Keep up the amazing work, and cheers friend

I'm really impressed at the teamwork between you and greenturnedblue planning this combo out! The timeline must have been really tough to get right and still keep enough threads hanging to resolve in part two, but you pulled it off.

First and foremost, I like that this movie is basically all of the action that was promised to us by the set up in the first half. Moving O-Ren to be the ultimate boss battle makes way more sense in the way of a narrative arc (even though I love the Tarantino mixed-up version).

Speaking of which the subtle edits and added scenes to the "Crazy 88 fight" were really cool. Cutting around all of the music in the build-up to the battle must have been very difficult but you did it seamlessly. I noticed almost all of them because I've seen the movie a million times but they were (again) seamlessly added, and it made it fun seeing new stuff! I loved that it didn't go black and white halfway through.

The soundtrack changes were also very cool. I semi-agree with bionicbob that Bill's death scene's new music didn't vibe with me. I would guess you were removing his "heroic death walk" music and making it more somber and in turn having him die like the angry prick he was instead of a hero walking off to the sunrise. Even still, I'm partial to the original audio.

I absolutely loved how much extra screen time you devoted to Beatrix and BB, almost FOUR FULL MINUTES, which is 1/15th of your edit. I always felt like Tarantino rushed that scene of her finally snuggling her kid for the first time, so I really found it very sweet that after all this trouble she actually stayed with her for hours and tucked her in, and we got to see it.
