I want to start by saying I helped on this edit, and I did so with great pleasure even though I'm not a huge Superman fan. More of a Batman fan all be told. I also think these two Superman films by themselves aren't very good.
But alas, we have this edit!
I think the new story is told extremely well and fluidly. Sniper raised the stakes of the film's plots by combining them. I think the editing is seamless. I very much enjoy concise & condensed versions of two films (similar to Halloween The Doctor's Cut) that try to punch up the pacing and tell a good overarching story in around 2 to 2.5 hours. This edit is definitely that.

Two and a bit decades ago, ADigitalman uploaded what I consider to be the best first entry for any aspiring fanediting viewer or creator, Superman Redeemed, a seemless blend of Superman III and IV into one cohesive story. It demonstrated that, combined, the last two entries in the Reeve saga could offer so much more to the evolution of his Superman story.

The edit has now been, in my opinion, just about bettered with this version. It's not a shot-for-shot remake of the edit with blu-ray quality, but it is very much in keeping with it's spirit, it does it's own thing here and there, which just adds to it's ambition. There were certainly ideas in this that I've seen tried in other edits before besides just ADM, but it's all in how they're handled and depicted on screen that makes the difference.

Sometimes there were audio transitions that felt like they were awkwardly slotted in, but I've often had problems in that department with my edits so I won't fault them for that, everything got better the more it progressed.

The middle bridge between credits is a great means of 'modernising' this cut for today's current cinema goers, even if the production is old, and it creates a splendid, and emotionally resonant coda to a plot point raised and discarded in Superman II.

Superman Redeemed paved the path, Superman Resurrection grits it. A splendid entry and a fitting love letter to the best of the worst Superman has to offer, and the people who strive to present their promise to you

First, this version looks and sounds fantastic.

I'm a big fan of Superman Redeemed, so I was eager to see this version and spot any improvements.

While this is a reasonably good version, some of the biggest gripes from Superman Redeemed are NOT addressed, but are instead exacerbated. That is the narrative switch from Ricky to Jeremy and back to Ricky. A solution was proposed in the forum section under Superman Redeemed: https://forums.fanedit.org/threads/superman-redeemed-a-hybrid-of-iii-and-iv-by-adigitalman.151/page-7

The problem remains that Jeremy is superfluous and badly-acted, while Ricky is a worthwhile narrative element.

Also, the lack of transition shots toward the end results in Lois and Clark in the Daily Planet followed by Lois and Superman in the streets and no explanation of how they suddenly switched locations.

While I felt Redeemed trimmed a bit too much, this version retains too much. Both Jeremy and Lenny are narrative detractors from Superman IV and the less seen of these two, the better.

I definitely recommend seeing this version, but I would love to see some fine-tuning/trimming in the future.

While both Superman 3 and 4 are not great, this is definitley the best version of both films and a very well done edit on its own merit.

ADigitalMan showed us that Superman 3 & 4, mixed together can give us an interesting new narrative, with the nuclear threat at the center of it, TheSpiedSpider used that brilliant idea and developed it to bring it a new perspective, a man with the power and the will to force peace, should he be seen as a hero or as a tyrant? Well, obviously, the movies aren't rich nor deep enough to fully exploit the potential of these thematics, but fortunately, there's enough material left for the audience to forge their own opinion on the matter.
But the heart of Superman Resurrection remains the Superman & Lois relationship, I dreamed about closure to the DonnerVerse since I was a kid and none of the Donner Cut nor Superman Returns could've satisfied me, ADigitalMan's Superman Redeemed was remarkable, but the Clark & Lana ending left me with a bitter taste. But with this, I found the definitive final chapter!
"This film is dedicated to our greatest Man of Steel & our most intrepid reporter, who will always be together." Such a beautiful sentence to conclude the Christopher Reeve Superman saga, he truly deserved this movie, thank you SpiedSpider for sharing this gem!
