Brief Synopsis:
This edit is a follow-up to my previous prequel edits, Faster More Intense and Sanded Down.

It's in some ways a bit more conservative than my other two prequel edits, and probably one of the more conservative Revenge of the Sith edits in general. While the first two prequels are movies I don’t enjoy because of their flaws, ROTS is a movie that I enjoy despite it’s flaws, I just wish it could be better.
Intention:
My overall philosophy with this particular edit was to focus on making a lot of small changes that add up to something greater, rather than radically altering the structure or flow of the film. Like always, Hal9000’s edit was a big influence and a primary source for this edit, but “Another Happy Sanding” diverges from “Labyrinth of Evil” in that it attempts to preserve the original structure of the movie. Like in the original film, Anakin’s fears of Padme’s demise serve as the primary impetus for his fall.

While I’ve made some cuts of my own, I’ve also restored some fan-favorite lines and moments of camp, like most of Yoda & Palpatine’s duel. It’s silly, but it’s fun & inventive and I miss its presence in other edits. I hope this edit strikes a good balance for most people.

Like the theatrical film, Padme dies at the end of this edit. I went with this ending partially in order to preserve canon, and partially because I feel like it’s the natural conclusion the movie is leading up to. I’m honestly pretty divided on this particular question though, so I may at some point upload an “alternate ending” version that concludes like “Labyrinth of Evil”, with Padme living on Alderaan. Chime in if that’s something you’d like to see.

Special Thanks:
Other edits that influenced this one are Kerr’s “Dark Force Rising”, L8wrtr’s “Dawn of the Empire”, NFBism’s “New Canon Cut”, and SiliconMaster482’s “Rebalanced” edit. I also borrowed a snippet of video from Bobson Dugnutt’s “expanded edition”, which originally borrowed from my “extended edition”. The circle is now complete, as Anakin would say.

Sade1212 provided a visual effects shot that was originally created for Hal’s edit but never used. Keep an eye out for it.

This is a fantastic edit that probably combines the best of Hal9000 and L8wrtr's edits. It's meant to be a conservative edit but still cuts ~15 of the theatrical, which, once again, makes for a better paced film. I like that it retains much of the lightsaber battle between Sideous and Yoda, because let's face it: Star Wars is supposed to be fun, and a Jedi—even a tiny green one—wields a lightsaber. I also like how (and where) Padme's deleted scenes are reinserted, i.e., the seeds of the rebellion, thereby giving her more to do than just worry about Anakin. Some of Palpatine's more over-the-top lines are twimmed so that his presentation as a sly master manipulator is preserved.

This is hands down the best, most balanced RotS edit you can watch. I think the opening retains a little too much of the goofiness of the theatrical, and the ending (following the climax) feels a little too drawn out, but those are minor complaints given what's been achieved here.

Octorox currently has the definitive, best-of-all-worlds, most balanced, best paced edits of all three prequel films (so no more skipping around between faneditors which usually introduces continuity errors). You've got everything you need in one place with Octorox's adept, well-thought out cuts. I wish Octorox a long fanediting career, because I honestly believe he is the best in the community.

Many will think this is too conservative, but it was just what I was looking for. No major changes, but that's not at all necessary with ROTS. The best version of the film I've seen and a fitting end to a great edit of the trilogy.

A very good, conservative natured edit. This is a great edit if you don't hate Episode III to it's core, and just wish it were toghter, more focused, and less silly and superfluous.

There were a few moments of silliness in the opening that I personally would have cut, but after that it was great.

If you want a conservative, yet still streamlined, cut of Revenge of the Sith, there's not much to complain about this one.

The passage of time has given ROTS plenty of edit ideas. Octorox once again has merged the very best of them into a brilliant package. The deleted scenes and newly made Padme/Obi-Wan vision Anakin gets is so well done. I miss some elements like the infamous NO, but the whole thing zips along with such crystal-clear focuses I can get over the handful of changes I didn't personally love. Great job!
