Brief Synopsis:
The Marvelous Edition extends the film with five new scenes, while also replacing four scenes with alternate version, including the opening and ending of the film, and even a new post credits scene...

Eighteen minutes has been added to the runtime, however thirteen minutes has been cut, meaning this version is five minutes longer than the theatrical.
Intention:
The blu-ray includes a lot of alternate scenes that were reshot for the final film, or just reshot and never used, so I really wanted to see a different take on the film to see how it would fair in somewhat of a pre-release version.

Bobson Dugnutt's technical skills are top notch! This edit serves mostly to expand on the fun of the theatrical cut of Shazam! with a few extra scenes that help to give a bit more to the characters.
The biggest changes definitely come in the form of the alternate intro, Christmas party and alternate ending scenes. These changes left me torn for a while, as I found the boardroom scene in the theatrical cut to be one of my favorite scenes. However, I also recognize that that scene goes very dark for an otherwise lighthearted, kid friendly movie. The alternate scenes also all inject a bit more Christmas into the movie. And the inclusion of the other deleted scenes does enough to enhance the film that I don't find myself missing the boardroom scene as much as I thought I would.

Overall, I fun alternate/extended version of Shazam that's absolutely worth checking out if you're a fan of the original!

I really enjoyed the theatrical cut of Shazam!, and this one even more. The deleted scenes were a great addition, and for the most part I was unable to tell which of the other scenes were alternates. I liked the inclusion of the alternate actor to play the dad at the beginning, and the new ending was a good change too. Good job Bobson.

Used this last year as my first watching of the movie. Perfect edit, scenes were masterfully reintegrated and I wouldn't know what was deleted or not. Bobson at his usual best.

The Marvelous Edition of Shazam! is a quality edit of the original film that reintegrates alternative scenes in the film. While most may not agree that all the scenes should be replaced by the cut versions—the alternative opening suits the tone of the film much better than the original. It is much lighter than the car accident and fits the Christmas theme of the movie. The scenes are cut in seamlessly and I very much enjoy the two Shazam family scenes. However, I do miss the Superman cameo. This cut is an enjoyable edit without any jarring cuts or audio/visual issues and I would recommend this if you are looking for more Shazam family or if you want a different viewing experience.

I have to qualify this recommendation based on what you expect. Firstly, I did NOT like this movie. (My review is here: https://letterboxd.com/film/shazam/) If you're expecting that these alternate scenes will improve the character development or add more depth, I wouldn't recommend this. In many of the scenes, I can see why they were cut or reshot. I think the theatrical versions are less cheesy (though often still cheesy) and work better in terms of the flow of the film. So this version is not going to improve the film for most people.
However, if you already like the film a lot and just want an alternate way to view it, this will do the trick. The edits are mostly quite smooth and well done, except for a couple of visual transitions where the screen was black for noticeably long (about 5 seconds) between added scenes. It's also debatable if the opening scene repeats the one that occurs just after, where really a choice should be made about which version of the opening to include, instead of both.
I really didn't enjoy this film much, but that's not the editor's fault. So I can't give a "1" as my enjoyment score here. But in terms of improving my enjoyment of the theatrical, I think that cut actually works better for me, hence the "7" here. The way the three ending scenes were added with the credits was also a bit odd...I think I might have juggled those around or something, too. So this edit is a decent way to rewatch, but not a shelf-replacer for me.
