I enjoyed this at the cinema but on viewing it again on Bluray found it a little lacking as an Alien prequel.
Severian's edit is a lot tighter with good integration of deleted scenes (although one obviously stands out with incomplete wire removal) and cutting of non-plot essential scenes. The addition of the TED speech and the begining was great and I liked the Shaw video messages too.
I certainly enjoyed it more than the original and it will be my go to edition now.

Thanks Severain ^_^

I'm a huge movie guy and I've been on the site for about a year checking out all the great work all the editors have done. In true cliche fashion, it was Adywan's Star Wars edit that brought me to the site but I've been a devoted follower ever since. I mention Adywan in this review because his edit is what I think a fanedit should accomplish: polishing the rougher parts of a film to make it into something better or something new. Quite like Adywan's edit, Severian has most definitely achieved this feat and in seemingly simple ways.

I've loved the Alien films since I was a kid and Ridley Scott is (maybe used to be at this point) a master of SF. I was so incredibly pumped for the film and then I remember leaving the theater scratching my head. There were so many fantastic ideas in the film, and it looked gorgeous, but it was missing a core experience for me to connect to. Once I saw that an edit had been done for the film, and that Severian seemed to feel the same way about the original cut, I had to check out his edit and I was not disappointed. Here's my breakdown on each category:

The film still looks gorgeous and there were only a few moments where the image was slightly fuzzy.

The visual editing is amazing. I honestly could not tell that this was a fanedit (aside from seeing the original film of course). Every scene was treated with care and the changes all flowed easily into one another. I was also scratching my head at the end of Severian's work but for a different reason: how in the world did he make something so soulless find it's way again so easily? Reading the cut/changes list doesn't do this edit justice. Severian has taken an original work and made it insanely better by adding a real connection to it.

The audio editing is also flawless. I didn't notice any issues in the sound and it played quite well over my surround sound.

Like I've said a few times, I honestly disliked the original cut and Severian delivered an Alien movie that I proudly display next to the first two. I can only hope that Ridley Scott takes a page from Severian's book as he continues the franchies; if not, at least I know Severian will be there to give the fans good films. Honestly, if you liked the original or hated it, check out Severian's cut. The cuts are all flawless and it is impossible to tell that it is a fanedit; this is the version that should have been shown in theaters. Thanks for the experience!

I just got finished watching this and this is quite an impressive firstling. It's been awhile since I've seen Prometheus so I don't remember a ton but I do remember not enjoying it! I guess I'm in the minority in that I didn't like the inclusion of the TED talk, but that's just me, I understand why you put it in though. And I can't say I liked the theatrical opening with the CGI guy and the waterfall creating life or whatever the hell was happening (again, i don't remember a lot from the theatrical version). This is definitely my replacement disc for Prometheus.

Nice work Severian! An excellent example of a faneditor turning a "meh" movie into an enjoyable one. I look forward to seeing more edits from you.

Most everything I have to say has already been said, and probably better than I could put it, but here goes anyways!

I enjoyed Prometheus when it came out. It wasn't quite what I was expecting or what the trailers had promised, but I felt that it was better for it. It's easily one of my favorite movies, and when I saw that Severian had added some of the viral clips to the film, I was ecstatic, as adding Weyland's TED speech as the opening was something that I had in mind for doing a Prometheus edit. I think the inclusion of Shaw's video might have been a bit much, but hey, I enjoyed it anyways.

The placement of the Dune and Scott Free logos felt a bit odd, but I've seen other films that have their logos in the middle of the opening, too! There was really only one edit that I thought could have been executed better: in the briefing scene, I think that Shaw's line could have been edited to "I believe they engineered us." Maybe Severian tried that and it didn't work out, and that's okay!

The integration of deleted footage was great. There were a few times I didn't even notice that new footage had been added, and the times I did, I was glad that it was. The dream sequence was a tad...odd, but incredibly well edited. Like others, I didn't even realize some stuff was cut until I read the list again.

Great job, Severian! If a Blu-ray version of this becomes available, you can bet I will be downloading it.
