Fantastic edit and clearly a labour of love. Brilliant effort bringing together a variety of sources to produce the highest image quality possible. That said, there are relatively frequent dips in visual quality. Not a knock on Robulon who has clearly done they best they can with the material available.
Naratively, things flow better than in any of the other releases so far. Like others, I also chuckeld at the title '500 years ago...in the future'.
The new song choices are integrated seamlessly and definitely an improvement,
Overall the colour regrade is handled very well. The main exceptions are scenes that feature fire - the shift in reds cause any visible fires to clip out giving an unnatural appearence. I know from first hand experience what a pig fire can be to regrade but I wonder if some carefully applied power windows might make this less noticable.
The other scene where the regrade is a bit distracting is during the car chase sequence. A victim of the day for night shooting technique used, it still stands out a bit.

Overall, a much superior way to enjoy the film compared to any of the previous releases.

An exceptionally clever new take on the infamous Highlander sequel The Quickening.

On the technical side, this is a very ambitious project and the Editor's passion and knowledge of the material is evident in every frame. The core concept for the new narrative is logically sound, though it does not always play out cleanly for me. Many scenes have been re-arranged into a different order, and I found on occasion it affected the ebb and flow of the pacing, Such as Connor driving before the Opera with the radio info dump or Katana's very late arrival in the present.

The fan edit uses footage from various sources of differing video quality, which is very noticeable. Thankfully, it all serves and improves the story and the characters, so it did not detract from my engagement in the moment.

The new sound design and fx work with future judges is great, I really loved those scenes. Though I am not certain if the Alternate Future aspect is fully fleshed out or transparent or even makes any more sense than the original, but I must admit it is brilliantly inventive!

There is much to love in this fan edit. It goes without saying, the additional Queen music is incredible and immediately elevates the material. The new opening is pitch perfect. And the new ending! Wow! I got the FEEEEELS!

The fan edit also benefits significantly by what was cut, especially the bizarre, left field, creepy love story. This removal, along with restored material from alternate versions, makes Louise a much more dynamic and integral character, which I loved.

On the whole, an impressive achievement both technically and narratively. It is honestly the most enjoyable version of Highlander II that I can ever remember watching.

Thumbs UP!!! :)

When I first saw this edit, I was wary. Was this going to be an attempt to sand down all the truly insane elements that make this such a great watch? Thankfully, as soon as I got to '500 Years Ago... In The Future' I knew I could breathe easy. This is without a doubt the absolute best version of this movie! It's not going to magically make it "good" but it does enhance all the flavor that makes it Good, with added Queen music that is added so well that you'll wonder how they ever thought they could make this without it. Highly recommended, especially if you're craving a double feature like I was.

Really exciting to be watching this in 2024.... The very year these events already didn't happen!

Yea robulon is absolutely brilliant.... He can turn a film around in what can only be called: Miraculousness ;)

This is a perfect relflection of the original now. Its pulling the hidden meaning the writers surely intended out of the muck and putting on grand display. Overly grand; indeed. My only suggestion is for the aspect ratio to be brought in line with the first movie. I swear the director intentionally shot it with a load of dead space on the sides for this purpose. Studio demands be damned and all.

Hopefully there can be a little cooperation between robulon and revstevens to bring out the definitive duology. Red letter intros all the way, a little less cornyness if at all possible, and Queen's Greatest Hits all the way!!!

I enjoyed this a lot.
I do prefer the original red shield over the blue one from the special edition so I was glad to have that here, it does result in some image quality changes due to having to use the lower definition sources but it really wasn't too distracting here.
The Queen songs were a nice addition, I thought they might overtake the whole thing from the title but they really don't and seem to fit in pretty naturally to me.
The changes to the "Zeist" plot I thought worked better here than in the special edition, being set in the future rather than the past. The "500 Years ago...In the Future'' subtitle did make me LOL, it does fit with how audacious the segment is ;)
I think it may have lost something narratively with Katana traveling to the present so early but then not showing up again in the film for so long but that's was only a minor quibble
Overall very well done.
