This is an interesting edit of the original Blade Runner. Whilst watching I could tell that things have been altered, however outside of any major scene cuts/removals I wasn't able to quite put my finger on what the precise changes were. I think the changes were more noticeable at the start of the film and it gave the film a slightly different feel and pacing to the ordinal. It conjured up in my mind, the feel of 70's US detective/cop films, in term of the edit / cut style earlier in the film.

The editing is well executed and reading the change list (after I had watched the film) I can see that a lot of thought and effort went into this edit. Great work!

Quite an endeavor! No gripes over cutting as it all ran smoothly as far as I could tell. Some enhancements still might be improved upon though. I was expecting more atmosphere but I get this is hard to do when dealing with HD.... I know nothing really. I've recently seen the 'N7 Cut' from krausfadr and that utilizes the source metarial quite dynamically and with greater success. Yet again, I am not a student in these arts. Soundtrack might be better.

Given the clarity brought to the plot, and the characters here; I do never-the-less suggest a clearer picture with added depth and contrast may serve to affect the angle Wakeupkeo is going for much more appropriately. Grittier being possibly impossible to get right?!?

Its alot less dreamy for sure. And counterintuitively even though there is less exposition from Deckard, we can find ourselves sympathising with the reality of his difficult situation, without distraction, and less confusion. Which is refreshing and certainly garners a whole new sense of what this Blade Runner is all about. Another great title ('An Old Fear' is classic) from Wakeupkeo as for the first time its concievable to me that Deckard is a GOOD GUY!!!

A/V Quality
At a size of 11gb, I compared it to a streaming quality copy of the film (itunes) to compare it to an industry standard streamed HD file. The edit did look slightly softer and some of the fine details were lost in the encoding of the video. The detail is mostly impacted during smokey and/or dark scenes. The audio quality sounded fine to my ears. I wonder if a re-encoding with a 2-pass setting might be able to restore some of the lost visual details? The movie is still very much watchable in its current state.

Visual Editing
The visual editing involving the removal of scenes flowed well. I didn't read how Wakeupkeo added or retained the grit of the world, but the film did have a gritty feel as I watched it. The deleted scenes were also implemented well. While I knew when a deleted scene was used, it didn't distract from the experience and sat in the visual flow well.

Audio Editing
A few audio edits were noticed mostly due to some audio levels being a bit too loud or cuts that changed the tempo of a scene, but everything else sounded similar to the source material.

Narrative
The story remains intriguing and nothing felt like it was lost due to editing choices.

Enjoyment
I appreciated the removal of the rape scene as it's completely unnecessary and foul. The deleted scenes were inserted well and I enjoyed seeing how they added to or influenced the narrative. As a whole, this is a strong edit that is pretty much just as good narratively as the source. I do wish the video was a bit clearer for the file size (11gb), but the experience is still very much watchable. If you enjoy Blade Runner and wish to have a slightly different experience with the movie and to skip that terrible scene between Deckard and Rachael, this just might be the edit for you.

I have watched this movie in various edits over the last 40 years. I can honestly say that this is the first time that I have ever ENJOYED the movie. I have finally finished this movie not feeling like I have missed something.
I love how all of the edits were seamless and I was never pulled out of the movie. Wakeupkeo had me invested with all of the characters and situations. I never felt like something didn't fit. I could feel Deckards' agony over some of his decisions. I felt Rachael's sadness at finding out her true story. I had sympathy for Roy's desire for life. I finished the movie completely satisfied for the first time.
I will not get into the technical parts of the editing because if I am that absorbed in a movie then the editing speaks for itself.

Great job!! This will definitely be my go to edition of the film!! Thank you!

TRIGGER WARNING: HERETICAL CINEMATIC BLASPHEMY FOLLOWS

BLADE RUNNER was one of those films that I just HAD to watch when I was a wee teenage lad due to the sheer legendary status that surrounded this film. What they were able to do in terms of sets, special effects, costumes, and a truly tangible atmosphere is simply astounding for a film that was made in 1987; and it's a film that has truly transcended time and still feels relevant today. But MAN does it DRAG! The film is gorgeous to look at, but there's only so much beautiful slow shots that one can take before the beauty just becomes stale from the constant bombardment of said beautiful slow shots! I wanted to like it, I swear! But the way the story was told was just dreadfully boring. Keo has a warning that states, "this edit is for a VERY small audience," but I insist that I could not be in the minority in finding this film a drag; I insist that most people say they like this film simply because they're afraid to go against the cinematic religious belief that "BLADE RUNNER IS A MASTERPIECE." In other words, most people are lying when they say that they enjoyed BLADE RUNNER. There, I said it!

That being said, this edit has really done a phenomenal job in streamlining the film without sacrificing AT ALL the atmosphere, story, and overall message of the film. In fact, the message was actually improved and made clearer in this edit! I mean, seriously, how could anyone find the Replicant gang sympathetic when they look so sinister and they kept casually killing people with little to no remorse throughout the film?! Keo fixes that. For the first time ever, I TRULY felt bad for Roy Batty in the end. And the pacing is dramatically improved, not ONCE was I ever bored watching this. And thank you for not including the goddamn unicorn sequence. It's a neat idea, but it does feel ultimately shoehorned in and it didn't really add much except forcing a "mysterious twist" within a film that didn't really need it.

My only complaint is not adding the year and all mentions of the year. I mean, why do that? Is it because the film takes place in 2019 and we're in 2022 and thus ruining the "immersion magic"? I mean, sure, but how hard is it to just imagine that this film takes place in an "alternate universe?" Eh, just a minor nitpick.

Thank you Keo. You've helped me to FINALLY appreciate the claims that this film is a "masterpiece." An excellent edit, plain and simple. And if you ever do a version that includes the voice overs, I would be intrigued in watching that as well!
