Brief Synopsis:
Sidelined after their spectacular save of New York City five years ago, the Ghostbusters once again answer the call when an underground river of ghoulish goo threatens to rot the Big Apple to the core!

After another Blu-Ray set with previously unseen deleted scenes released, I've revisited the film after first making an extended cut more than 3 years ago.
18 alternate, deleted, and extended scenes have been reintegrated back into the film, with more than 12 minutes of all-new footage.
Intention:
Since there was a new Blu-Ray set with new deleted scenes, of course I wanted to update and make a new version of my extended cut. Slime-time!

Special Features

Editing Details:
A lot of the deleted material has black levels crushed beyond repair, so some moments and scenes will look so much darker than the surrounding footage, so be aware that I've done a lot of work to make it look good but it's not perfect.
Cuts and Additions:
- alternate 'World of the Psychic' program, with new guests and less doomsday talk
- added Pete and Dana outside her apartment, trying to reminice about the good times
- added Dana asking the boys why these terrible things always happen to her, with Egon trying to scientifically reason it
- added a line from Ray as him and Pete leave the coffee shop when Egon is caught by the cop
- added slightly longer moment with Yanosh at Dana's apartment
- added Dana saying its all her fault Pete and the guys are in court, with Peter saying he'll be okay
- added slightly longer take of Louis addressing the court
- added Louis trying to catch Slimer with a spare proton pack
- added alternate version of Ray, Egon and Winston asking Pete to join them in the sewer, now set in his apartment and not outside on the street
- added a few extra pieces of dialogue in the Mayor's office from all 4 GBs, and HardOn
- added the GBs in Parkview Psychiatric Hospital, knowing that they're stuck and unable to break out
- added Louis talking to his cousin, who is a doctor and may be able to get them released
- cut the Mayor firing his assistant, and getting the Ghostbusters released from the psyche ward (Louis gets them out in this cut, and the assistant reappears later)
- added Ray and Pete talking to the Fire Chief, who hasn't been able to break the slime mold
- added Louis running back to the firehouse, telling Jenine that the GBs need him
- added HardOn yelling at the GBs to leave the museum, while they all talk to the Mayor about what to do, with his assistant meeting an alternate fate...
- added an extended dialogue scene with the GBs in Lady Liberty while they walk through the river
- added the GBs trying to hype up New Yorkers with 'Higher and Higher' as they approach the shore
- added a few lines reuniting Dana and Pete after the Vigo fight

First off, this edit is a straight up extended cut. It doesn't play around with the original timeline, just adds any and all extended or alternate scenes, no matter what. For instance, this has an alternate actress reading the same lines during the World of the Psychic scene. It's no necessarily better than the original, but it's swapped out in this edit because it's an available alternate scene. This could be a negative for some, but I found it to be a very cool experience. it seems familiar, but not. This movie is one of my favorites from when I was a kid and I've probably rented and seen the vhs 100 times. For the most part it's pretty seamless except when it's footage from the workprint, which Bobson really did a good job to clean up. There's a couple moments where the audio levels don't match or a hard cut into an inserted scene. If there's really any negatives those would be it, but honestly it's really a great job with the edit. In the end, these scenes were all deleted for a reason, but this was a fun way to experience material that in all respects would make a bad movie worse. Killing ghosts with positive vibes man! Thank you Bobson Dugnutt! It was a really fun watch, especially for a big fan of the first two movies such as myself.

I've seen too many of Bobson's outstanding and flawless edits to review all of them, so I decided to go with a personal favorite of mine.
Even though people often deem Ghostbusters II just a lazy copy of the first one not worthy of consideration, I have always enjoyed the movie, despite being inferior to the original 1984 masterpiece.
Masterfully reintegrating a lot of new (and old) available deleted footage, Bobson turned the often maligned sequel in a new and more entertaining version of the film, enhancing the experience for every kind of viewer.
As usual, the editing is by far perfect, getting great results in the integration of new scenes even when the difference is dictated by the deteriorated state of the material.
Thank you for making Ghostbusters II an exciting experience once more!

I like how the scenes are edited together. My favorite scene is with Louis trying to capture Slimer, as it would explain why they were cool later. In the theatrical version, Louis was frighten of Slimer, and the next time we see them, they were cool.

Louis trying to reason with his cousin at the mental hospital I like, because we never actually got to see any of his relatives.

My favorite kind of fanedits are the ones where editor re-integrates all of available deleted scenes, and even extra ones from, for example promo materials... Bobson Dugnutt is one of the editors that are good at exactly that, crafting extended editions after my own heart. I absolutely adored the previous older extended cut of GBII Bobson did, and this newly tinkered version is a clear sign of evolving skills and the vision. Upscaling added scenes really helps to marry them with the rest of materials, so I'm glad that was done with care, where it would be easy to overdo it, and actually make scenes stick even more out. The color timing is modest, and works quite well, considering the clipping in blacks, inherent to the source.
A well rounded edit, which will now be my go to version of this movie, from a talented editor who is not shying away from forgoing a "less is more" approach, and instead looks genuinely passionate looking in direction, where sometimes... more is actually, well... more.
