Brief Synopsis:
A film noir classic that originated the trope of "I've been poisoned and I have to figure out who poisoned me before I die".

This version differs in that I have removed a silly inclusion of a slide whistle doing a wolf call whenever our "hero" sees a pretty lady.
Intention:
I LOVE this movie, but the slide whistle gag is so annoying and I become fixated on it every time it happens. It needed to go.
Special Thanks:
BionicBob for previewing and catching that one slide whistle that eluded me during the editing process.

Digital
Editing Details:
After obtaining the soundtrack to the film, I was able to use the "rumba" track to mask the slide whistle sounds. A quick audio grab here and there helped further cut the sound. For the last slide whistle edit, I had to use Adobe Free AI enhance to get rid of the slide whistle sound while one of the characters was speaking. It is slightly noticeable, but I feel that it fits with an older film such as this.
Cuts and Additions:
No additions outside of the FE and my logo bumpers.

I agree entirely with the decision to offer a 'whistle free' version. In the original such crass moments, which occur several times, just intrude and are a narrative distraction, They're an un-asked for audio comment which makes the central character (with whom we are ultimately expected to sympathise) too much of a jerk. This edit in either version though is excellent, the revamped image as well as one would wish for. A memorable noir given a new lease of life.

Watched. Loved.

A classic noir made even better by a simple change. Though not simple to execute. Excellent technical work by MusicEd! And the video upscale is beautiful!

Highly recommended for noir fans!
