I'm a big fan of Escape From New York, but not so much the sequel. The description of this edit was intriguing enough to give the sequel another shot. I loved the new soundtrack and score. It brought the feel right in line with the first movie and made the sequel much more enjoyable. As another reviewer mentioned, there were a couple of places where the new soundtrack was a bit too loud and it drowned out the dialogue, but it wasn't a big deal. It would have been great if the editor was a little more ambitious and tried to cut some of the silly parts out of the movie. I think the plastic surgeon and basketball sequences could have been done away with altogether with some simple edits and really improved the story. But that wasn't the goal here and the editor certainly achieved his goals. This is a fun alternative cut of the film and recommended to any fans of Escape From New York or LA.

Escape from L.A. has problems that cannot be fixed, this fan edit fixes the issues it can and boosts the good part of Escape from L.A. up to 11, The new opening got me hyped for the first half of the movie, the second half is still great.
Although call me crazy but I still prefer the original Surfboard Car Chase scene Soundtrack
It is a must-watch for fans of Escape from New York because it's almost on the same level.

This was a fun watch!
Loved the new opening with the additional graphics and earthquake footage; it really re-energized the movie.

And wow, the new synth score! Some truly inspired new additions that really made this feel like a proper continuation of EFNY. Though I was disappointed the Escape From New York theme was not incorporated somewhere in the edit as I have always associated it as Snake's theme too. Otherwise, the new score really sets the perfect tone and elevates the narrative.

But I did note a few technical issues. There are multiple video encoded glitches/stutters throughout the film that are at times distracting. Some of the new score is a bit too loud in some scenes, drowning out parts of dialogue or essential foley sound effects. There was 3 or 4 very loud audio pops. And there is noticeable distorted dialogue and/or foley in some scenes where audio remover has been employed.

These did tech issues, while noticeable, did not distract me from really appreciating the creative approach and hard work the editor poured into this project. Well worth checking out!

I've revisited Escape From LA a few times and bounced off it every time, despite my fondness for John Carpenter and Kurt Russell's particular blend of movie magic. I'm happy to say that this edit managed to finally make the film work for me. The film still doesn't hold together as well as Escape From New York, obviously, but the score and edits have gone a long way towards making the film feel more like its predecessor. My congradulations to Dawnrazor for finally sticking the landing on one of the few Carpenter films that I've never really been able to enjoy. Well done!

I wish there is a score higher than 10 for Enjoyment here. I had an idea of replacing the score in this movie with Carpenter tracks from other sources, but what Dawnrazor did is even step beyond, adding more Synthwave than ever! I can honestly say that this is the best score replacement project I've ever seen, making sure that score is correctly balanced in relation to centre channel... Well, to say centre channel, as the audio track is actually exported in stereo. Given that initial 4K release came with somewhat dodgy centre channel, and all the choices for soundtrack replacement were stereo, I can honestly see why folding everything to stereo might have been a less headachy choice. Attention to details and timing in this edit is impeccable!
Having this AMAZING mountain of work in surround would have made it even better! Dude, if you happen to still have project tracks lying around (even if it is just centre channel + rest stereo for score), hit me up, I would be game, and it would be an honor to try and do some reverse engineering to 5.1 or even 7.1 upmix for this beast.
In any case, this is my go to version of this movie, from now on. It makes it a sequel worthy of following the original, and I cannot describe how glad I am, Dawnrazor did it. 'Actually gave me some good ideas for projects I am trying to do...
