- Noticed a frame still there when kid Wolvie kills his “father”. The scene ends up being abrupt, but because the scene is so tightly packed, there’s really not much way to edit around it. Glad to see you were able to pull off something with it.

- The jump from Wade slicing the bullet to him smiling at the guy behind the desk seemed a little abrupt, but again, you needed a way to show that he had eliminated the threat.

- Never liked Will.I.Am’s line “Wouldn’t do that if I were you brother”. I saw this movie when the bootleg got leaked, and in that version, he didn’t have any dialogue here. You can tell it was added in post cuz his mouth doesn’t move when we see his face. I thought his silence (like in the bootleg) worked better.

- Personally, I liked when Logan clicked his tongue for Zero to get back in the car. I like the tension between them.

- Glad to see the “Wolverine” story go, although I would’ve kept in the scene where he wakes up in the morning and takes in the sunrise with his girlfriend. It’s a nice establishing shot to show Logan has a new life now.

- Also would’ve kept the scene where he’s waiting for her in the car while she’s with her students. Like earlier mentioned, it helps establish their relationship more.

- Glad Logan’s scream up to the heaven’s was cut. As if it weren’t corny enough in X3.

- The removal of dialogue between Victor and the bartender made the jump seem abrupt for my tastes. But I’ll take it over the stupid dialogue.

- When Victor kicks Logan and it cuts to black, the sound was cut short. It should’ve faded out or echoed as we fade in to the establishing outside shot of the laboratory. I actually would’ve kept in Logan’s scream, then faded to black when he passed out.

- Unless there’s something I’m missing about Wolverine’s powers from true comic book canon, why would the line about the anesthesia be cut?

- Glad to see the bathroom scene with the bad CGI claws was cut. The transition from the barn to the dinner table was a *tad* abrupt IMO.

- Unless I wasn’t paying attention, I don’t remember Logan ever hearing Zero talk to Stryker about the island (except when he was still “coming back to life” while in the water tank). So it seemed odd for Logan to mention it. Unless of course this is the only way to keep the plot moving for Logan to get the info. from Fred, then I can understand keeping it in.

- There was a bad cut when Logan approached Fred (obvious removal of the “fat” line). Also
he mentioned the tatoo on Fred’s arm even though the previous reference about it was cut.

- Glad to see the first scene with Scott was cut, as it didn’t add anything to the story.

- Bad cut when removing the “Gambit” line.

- I didn’t feel like the deleted scene of Victor talking to Stryker added anything. When he approached Fred still laying in the ring I figured we’d see Victor get the info. from him and then kill him.

- SO GLAD you cut out Logan cutting down the fire escape.

- Bad cut for “the pool” line.

- Also VERY GLAD you cut out the error with the bullets (he fired all 6 shots at Logan), as well as Wolvie’s girl using her mind powers on Stryker. Him leaving her there to die is pretty sinister.

- Been a long time since I’ve watched this movie, but weren’t there more scenes of the kids getting lost and Scott reassuring them to trust him? If so, glad they were cut.

- Didn’t care for the added music when Prof. X appeared, but was glad to see the head shot of him was cut. The audio levels were a little off though as the music was too loud.

- One thing I’m still confused about. Stryker is “wanted for questioning” in the death of the General. Is he ever convicted? If so, how does he get to where he is in X2?
Overall, upon first seeing this film I knew a fan edit wasn’t too far off in the future. I had planned on tackling it myself, but you’ve pretty much done everything I would’ve done. So obviously, I liked this and it will find a place on my dvd shelf.

8/10.

I am a huge X-Men fan, and truly X-Men Origins was a movie I was anxious to see. After the beautifully crafted mysterious hints at Wolverine’s past in X1 and X2, I wanted nothing more than a full movie to expand that story.
The end result, however, was a disappointment. They used bad special effects, changed key aspects of several characters we’ve seen in other films already, and did the opposite of fan service to most of the new characters that hadn’t been realized in film before. The story was convoluted and full of twists and fake-outs that fall flat.

Luckily, Havok has stepped in to create a version that gets rid of a lot of what I would say made Origins a bad movie. He’s masterfully created a version that won’t make you angry while watching, and that works fairly well with the other X-Men movies.

I liked most of what I saw, but did see things that I would have cut with your intent in mind. For example, the helicopter fight could have been trimmed a little more. I won’t argue though. Great job, this movie can finally settle in my stomach!

The DVD was a little bare-bones, I would have liked to see something else on there, like your trailer, or some short featurette where you explain why you cut and kept what you did. Not bad though, the video and audio were very nice quality.

I voted 8/10

well, there’s nothing i can put as far as cuts go that TylerD didn’t already mention. they were all nice changes, just a little rough. and that’s what effected my rating.
as the story went, a great improvement over what the studio put out. whoever approved this script i hope is now manning a weather station in Alaska.
making it look like Logan was captured by Victor was great.
this whole movie could be cut even more. i think it would all work better as an extended flashback than it’s own movie. kind of like the anime portion of Kill Bill.
but it’s a decent enough first effort is telling a good story. the cuts need improved, but i think you should defiantly be credited in other editor’s future improvements.

Okay, first I have to say that I really respect the work and the heart that goes into making a fan-edit like this. It's super difficult to try to turn such a bad film into something that fans will enjoy. So it's with that in mind that I offer my feedback.

Sadly, this edit totally didn't work for me. I appreciate the intent to make it "as close to the comic book as possible", but the material available just doesn't lend itself to that. In order to make it a good FILM, all the wrong things are cut. There are really quite a lot of setups and context deleted, as well as conversations that add depth to characters or develop the plot. What we're mostly left with is a string of "this happens, then this happens, then the next thing happens..." It's just all events with no reason for us to care and nothing to pique our interest.

Havok1977 mentioned reducing "over the top moments" but there are still 100s in here. The movie is virtually non-stop cheesy, unbelievable action moments, from Wolverine using his claws to turn his bike to Zero flying/jumping up into a passing helicopter to Gambit turning his staff into a helicopter... There are also tons of cheesy cameos as fan service that would be better cut out, from Storm as a child being in the same village Wolverine's adamantium comes from to an early X-team being assembled by Professor X to a bookend added in with Professor X that accomplishes nothing.

An additional issue with this edit is that the polish just isn't there. There are multiple occasions where there are very abrupt visual edits and hard audio ins and outs. As fragmented as the narrative already feels with the removal of a lot of dialogue, it feels downright jarring combined with the edits. The film really has very few stretches with any sense of flow or where any tone is created. When it is there, it's for an action segment, and the tone is "big cheesy green screen scene".

It's probably impossible to make a decent film out of this trash script and poor direction. But if it were to be done, it wouldn't be by being a slave to the comics, which have gone back and forth on Wolverine's backstory so many times I can't count. It would be in attempting to create a film that cuts out the cheese and leaves in the character moments. This is the total opposite. I see that it was enjoyable for a few others, which is why I gave it a shot, but it was just not at all what I was looking for. Apologies again to the editor, that's just my taste.
