Defrosted Edition does exactly what a perfect extended edition should do and that is convince me that none of the deleted scenes feel out of place. Most of the deleted scenes feel quite in place, including the one green screen scene(which had the vfx work done on it so well that I didn't even realize it was an unfinished one until I checked the changes section again). The only one that stood out was the alternate shot of the Hellicarrier falling that was added in,mostly because of the slight change in aspect ratio and the clip being of a lower resolution.

But even that is me nitpicking, overall this just elevates Winter Soldier as being one of the MCU's best films, not to mention another effortlessly great fanedit by Bobson

Just as well that this is (IMHO) an absolutely fantastic edit - otherwise I might not have spent the time jumping through hoops to try and resolve the major problems I had trying to login here (even though I was logged in to the forums) to leave this review!?! In case anyone else has the same issue - I had to log out, forget password (to reset), then log in again - then it worked! Sorry for taking the review off topic there...

Anyway, as I was saying - this is an absolutely tremendous edit, which adds a little extra meat onto an already great story - and again makes me wonder why the studios always feel the need to make these cuts? Why are the directors pushed into reducing the timing of the movies for as little as 3-5 minutes sometimes?

I ended up skipping through the edit again (after watching it), as (aside from the clip that had green screen previously) I couldn't notice where the edits had been made/added. Absolutely seemless!
I was viewing this edit on my TV whilst viewing my original version on my laptop.

This will now be my go to version of the movie - as I'm always keen for extended versions, if they're done well. And this one certainly has been! Fantastic work Bobson Dugnutt! I look forward to (hopefully) seeing your Spiderman 3.1 Hybrid Cut, JP Lost World Cretacious Cut, BTTF Greater Scott Edit - but extremely excited to see your Age of Ultron Extinction Edit once that is released!

Not much to say on this one. This edit doesn't massively alter the original film, it simply extends the runtime.

The theatrical cut is great and the fact that these scenes were deleted doesn't hurt that version in the slightest. Added back in, these scenes do help certain parts of the movie 'feel' or 'flow' better and apart from one scene, they have all been reintegrated seamlessly. The one scene I refer to required a fair bit of fx work, and may only have been noticeable to me as I was watching on a very large screen.

Audio/Visual quality was great.

I can't say wether this will be replacing my Blu-Ray yet. I'll have to watch the theatrical again and see if it feels like anything is missing ;)

All in all a great edit! Fantastic work!

I have long been appreciative of the work of faneditors, and I have to marvel at the skill level that has become commonplace. This particular film is one of my very favorites from the MCU, and this particular edit will replace the BD I have been watching - compared to Bobson Dugnutt's Defrosted Edition, the theatrical cut feels like it was made-for-TV.
This website does like to look at the technical aspects a lot more than the average viewer, but I didn't notice any problems of any kind - the flow of the story was flawless, there were no sounds or images that felt out of place or jarred me from enjoying my viewing, and it felt absolutely perfect.

I'll start with a couple comments on the editing skill of Bobson Dugnutt: in a word, perfect. Honestly, without my familiarity with the source material, I wouldn't be able to tell you what is from the theatrical release and what was added. Video is solid, audio is clear, and edits are precise. Tens all around.

If you've read my other reviews, you may have learned that I'm a sucker for extended editions. For films that I like, I often want more, more, more -- and extended editions give me just that. However, it's an open question whether the additions add to the experience. Some scenes are cut for time; some are cut because they just didn't work or they took the narrative in a different direction than what was intended by the filmmaker. There are three main scenes that are added in this EE, and in my opinion each enhances the narrative. The first is the rogue SHIELD finding Cap's discarded uniform. Not only does this close a plot hole as to why they weren't tracking Cap in the first place, it's a nice little action set piece. The second is Hill and Sitwell talking about loyalty. While the scene itself is a bit clumsy, it makes Hill's rescue of Our Heroes later make more sense: she now knows where to place her loyalty. The finished SFX in this scene are nicely executed as well. The third scene is a little character moment with Fury and Black Widow. This doesn't add much to the narrative, but is a nice little breather before the big final battle gets started. All three of these scenes are welcome additions to the film.

This version of the film is now my go-to version when doing rewatches. Highly recommended for fans of the film, of Captain America, and of the MCU.
