Amazing Spider-Man, The: The Untold Extended Edition

I would recommend this cut because this is truly the unpolluted edition, they could've put in Roosevelt subplot in here but in terms of enjoyment I still find the original cut is still enjoyable, if only this one could run as 156min instead.

I thought the original was pretty enjoyable, but that was before i watched this! This is truly the best way to watch this movie and excellent editing. Everything felt smooth and didn't even notice that some scenes we're different because how fluent it was!

The Untold Extended Edition is just the like the normal one except with the Roosevelt subplot from 2 moved here. This might seem odd to some people but I rather liked it since it left more room to breathe for 2. Same things I said for the normal Extended Edition apply here.

I was intrigued by the approach of this edit, shifting a subplot from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to the first film in the series (because god knows that film didn't need that many subplots). Unfortunately, I came away not feeling the experiment totally worked. For example, I felt the inclusion of the plane crash scene early in the film palpably hurt the pacing and took us out of Peter's perspective when we ought to have stayed rooted in the character and his journey. I ultimately didn't feel the scene told us that much that we couldn't glean from other sequences.

The other "untold story' scenes felt similarly superfluous, much as they did in the original 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' film. I do however feel that many of the reincorporated deleted scenes worked in the movies favor, giving more pathos to the character of Dr. Curt Conners. It's a shame that placeholder vfx and sfx in some scenes were still obvious, despite Masirimso putting in a good effort to patch up any obvious green screen. Ultimately I'd recommend Masirimso17's standard extended edition instead.

Good edit that manages to make the original film feel more grand.

Definitely would like to have seen some scenes more intricately edited, such as cutting certain shots earlier or even removing some dialogue to make the film more tightly paced. I'm not a fan of the Lizard entering the bathroom scene, it felt rather corny with the screaming and felt out of place..

Changing up the "becoming spider-man" montage beyond incorporating the teaser sequence would be really neat to see, though yes i know this is meant to be an extended edit rather than an alternate edit. Speaking of that teaser sequence, perhaps a different soundtrack would work better? The teaser soundtrack for that scene doesn't flow well with James Horner's score, it felt rather jarring.

I did enjoy the edit overall, and would recommend it.
