I sort of have to counter Iamsotravelsized's review. Firstly I saw ASM in the cinema and secondly I loved Raimi's first two films (I'm slowly getting to appreciate the 3rd as fanedits seem to improve the narrative along the lines of what I think the film should follow) but I'm not here to talk about Raimi's version. But basically I liked parts of ASM, just enough to own the film.

I think this is several steps in the right direction, there's still a few things that irk me but Spider-man's cockiness has been reduced somewhat. We once again no longer see the actual confrontation with Uncle ben, We learn it as peter lears it, it worked in 2001, it works here and it makes Uncle Ben seem like less of an idiot (i'll try and downtalk an armed man using morals and ethics...) A few scenes have been restored, others trimmed, I don't really want to talk specifics because I think the film generally has a much better flow to it now. I actually like Emma Stone again.

Do yourselves and favour and see this edit, it might not be SPECTACULAR, it might not be the ULTIMATE fan edit for this film, but it's the best one avaiable for the time being and it's simply AMAZING (see what I did there)

I was STOKED when I saw someone had made an edit of this flick, but that's because I hate the original cut of this movie.

Paper thin plot that at times jumps around for no rhyme or reason, complete with off the wall childish humor that doesn't at all fit the tone that the film was marketed with, much less the tone of the majority of the film. It's hard for me to get behind a film that has Capt Stacy getting run through and Peter Parker BREAKING THE BACKBOARD (WTF was that). For me this borders on a Jar Jar Binks level of humor that doesn't fit the rest of the film. Also, for me, the whole crane thing at the end is ridiculous........

But that's neither here nor there, since I'm reviewing SamSpider's edit and not the actual film. And I will say that taking into account Sam wanted to make a movie he already liked better, he did a fine job in that respect.

I LOVED the integration of the POV from the trailer. I was very disappointed when it was sped up in the theatrical release. Fun sequence now!

I dug the efforts to give Peter a reason to become Spiderman. He just kind of does it in the theatrical cut with no real motivation. The scene with Connors and Peter outside Peter's home should have been in the theatrical cut. It baffles me that it wasn't and was very happy to see it here. Liked the integration of Uncle Ben's "this monologue is written to say with great power comes great responsibility without actually saying with great power comes great responisibility". Solid work.

Thank God "I've been bitten" is on the cutting room floor, along with Peter DENTING THE GOALPOST WITH A FOOTBALL. I laughed in the theater for all the wrong reasons.

Now there were a couple negatives I had as far as the edit itself.

I liked that Peter wasn't looking for Ben's killer, so Sam cut him checking for the star tattoo on the thugs...but it left me wondering why the cop mentioning the tattoo wasn't removed as well. Now its just kind of this unnecessary exposition.

Really nit picky now, but if Peter doesn't go into the sewers to get pictures for the Daily Bugle, why does he bring his camera?

In conclusion, Sam liked this movie, and made it better. If you feel the same, check it out!

But if you really didn't like the original cut this isn't for you.

Hi. Thank you so much for leaving a review.

I want to answer your questions.

1) I left the police explaining about the tattoo because it was an important key. It lets know Peter and the audience that Peter could have done something for his uncle, but he is dead because he did not want to stop the thief. It was all his fault, and a better motivation to make strong the words of his uncle "if you could do good things for other people, you have a moral obligation to do those things".

2) Peter brings the camera in order to get evidence to the police. I mean, it sounds more spontaneous than just going to the sewers just because he wanted the reward. Kind of douchey.

But anyways, thanks again for watching :D

I had the chance to go see Amazing Spider-Man when it first came out. I loved it. I gave us a different Spidey compared to the Raimi films. It was closer to the comics, imo. It even took some pages from the Ultimate Spider-Man comic series. It is my favorite Spidey film so far.

Then I had the opportunity to watch this edit, which have to say is really well done. It provides an alternate take on it. Some of the small nitpicks I had with the original, they've been removed. The one that makes Spidey more of a hero is that in this edit, the quest for Uncle Ben's killer has been removed. It doesn't take away from the film because it had been dropped in the original.

The deleted scenes that have been inserted into the film. It helps provide more depth to these characters. That's something that while there was a bit of in the original. There were some instances where certain characters got less depth than others (Dr. Connor's looking at you). A few add a lil bit more fun to it (Peter going to Gwen's for dinner), there was one scene that was a bit of a stand out that was nice. That being the scene between Dr. Connors and his son, Billy. It was a nice touching moment that added a bit to the character.

Also love the contrast that was added to the film. It brightens the film up and makes it less of the dark vein (Dark Knight tone that the original had) and more of the superheroics that we wished to see.

This is an edit that I'd recommend. It does a great job of providing an alternate take on The Amazing Spider-Man (I'd refer to it as Amazing Spider-Man 1.1).

I thought the theatrical cut was so-so. This edit is better, and fixes a lot of the problems I had with the original (finally closure with Curt's boss!). I will watch this again; I can't say the same for the original.

an enjoyable take on the new spider man film, not all the deleted scenes work for me while i liked the inclusion of Peter following Conners and seeing him go into the sewer i feel the scene which was in the film were Peter see's the lizards on the sub-way should have been cut. the deleted scene was an alternative scene so having Peter see Conners and then seeing the lizards and realizing were Conners was hiding seemed a little off to me.

the doorman scene i felt shouldn't have been included as it just slows down the momentum. but the scene between Peter and Conners after his Unckle died along with the death of Rajit Ratha really should have been included in the original cut.

i would have liked to have seen a little more cut to the film (the crane scene for instance) as the movie is a little over long and tends to drag here and there. and i agree with another review as i feel the killer to unckle Ben should have stayed as it original played out. but overall the edit is of good quality and if you enjoy the new spider man films you should check this edit out
