Oh goddamn, that ending. Holy shit dude. Beautifully done. This is the kind of shit that's utterly absent in most superhero films.

That's gonna stick with me.

This edit is significantly stronger than the theatrical version, particularly in making Peter less of an arbitrary asshole, which gives more breathing room to what I feel was the strongest part of this film: the chemistry between Garfield and Stone, and to a lesser (but still notable) extent Garfield and Ifans. Raimi's Spider-Man 2 was my favorite Spider-Film until Spider-Verse, and the edits make this one feel much more like Spider-Man 2's treatment of Molina's flawless Doc Ock (less the intrusive, abrasive sniping asshattery that Raimi's leads constantly engage in for no apparent reason, rendering them generally unsympathetic).

Some of the cuts and additions are a little rough, but that seems difficult to avoid given how aggressive some of these changes are.

This was a very nice edit by lantern51. A definite improvement over the theatrical and will be my go to when I rewatch this.

I definitely agreed with trimming of the “fat” as done by the editor. That includes the revenge subplot and trimming some of the over the top antics by Peter to tone down his character. Some of these cuts were noticeable unfortunately, but I would prefer a few quick cuts versus the weaker material. From my vantage point, I did not recognize any notable audio issues here.

The alternative footage used along with the modified ending really enhanced the movie as well. I will note that some of the deleted scenes were not of the same quality as the rest of the movie, and it does take you out of it momentarily. However, I still thought the movie was better off with the extra footage even if some of those had noticeably lower quality. For me, a good narrative takes precedence over perfect visual quality.

I want to thank lantern51 for sharing the Amazing Spider-Man edits for my enjoyment. If Part 1 was any indication, then I expect good things for Part 2 even though that one was a bit weaker as a film.

The ending is the boldest and best part of this edit, and I really enjoy it. I'm not gonna spoil it here, you can see what it is in the Changes tab if you like.

The (mostly) removal of the revenge plotline kind of bothered me. It didn't feel fully committed to removing it, so we get this weird montage to replace it.

It's probably not gonna replace the original cut for me but it was a good breath of fresh air from a movie I'm kind of tired of watching lol

As a huge Spider-man fan, i love incarnations of the infamous webhead, and going into this edit, i wasn't sure what to expect. What i found was a cohesive story that eliminated many aspects of the original that fell flat, Peter is now portayed more as the outcast loner rather than the wisecracking teenager no one likes. The deleted scenes are done as well as they possibly can be given the source material, yet im on the fence when it came to the scene of Peter and Gwen having a picnic on a monument. I don;t think this scene really added anything the film needed.
For the most part, this edit was enjoyable, but there are edited scenes that did feel a little jaring, and in some instances broke the illusion of the film. This is only breif thankfully, and for the most part, the editing is quite commendable.

I'm in the category where i really like Garfield's interpretation of Spider-Man in the original edit. And while this edit won't replace it, it's most definately woth a watch!

Starting with the positives - Peter is much more likeable here. There are some excellent choices like cutting Peter's skateboarding montage, trimming him being extra mean while beating up the car thief, and cutting the revenge plotline. For most of this movie I could tell where small things were edited but it didn't impact the enjoyment too much. There was definitely a lot of work put into audio and video to cut out the revenge subplot and it's amazing that you got it working! Also the alternate uncle Ben death is fantastic.

There are some bigger problems though -
1. Whenever there was a deleted scene added it didn't quite match the color and contrast of the rest of the film, but it wasn't too bad most of the time. One particular deleted scene sadly does stand out and I think would have been better off not included because of the low quality (the doorman scene). I think the rest could be color corrected a bit more to try to get the contrast matching better.
2. You can tell several times where edits were made. I noticed quite a bit during the scenes where Peter is becoming Spider-Man, and I assume this was trying to cut around the revenge plotline. Biggest thing that stuck out was foley being incomplete in some shots. Another very noticeable set of cuts was when Peter goes to the internship. I know Lantern was trying to cut the subplot of him sneaking in, but it's still very obvious that he isn't supposed to be there which makes the cuts a little awkward.
3. One of my biggest complaints is some editing in the sewers. Everything surrounding Rajit finding Connors in the sewer, knocking out Peter with the sedative, and then getting eaten was jarring and rushed. Rajit's demise happened so quickly without being able to process it, and it was confusing what happened with Peter. This scene took me out of it quite a bit.

Overall I would recommend watching if you want an alternate take on the movie. It is a very commendable edit that accomplishes a lot, but wouldn't replace the original for me personally.
