Oh goddamn, that ending. Holy shit dude. Beautifully done. This is the kind of shit that's utterly absent in most superhero films.
That's gonna stick with me.
This edit is significantly stronger than the theatrical version, particularly in making Peter less of an arbitrary asshole, which gives more breathing room to what I feel was the strongest part of this film: the chemistry between Garfield and Stone, and to a lesser (but still notable) extent Garfield and Ifans. Raimi's Spider-Man 2 was my favorite Spider-Film until Spider-Verse, and the edits make this one feel much more like Spider-Man 2's treatment of Molina's flawless Doc Ock (less the intrusive, abrasive sniping asshattery that Raimi's leads constantly engage in for no apparent reason, rendering them generally unsympathetic).
Some of the cuts and additions are a little rough, but that seems difficult to avoid given how aggressive some of these changes are.
