this edit presents a bit of a mixed bag as some of the cuts are for the better (the tramp being at the scene of Batman's first appearance) some of the cuts I feel don't improve the film (microwave emitter) while some of the cuts i rather missed (swear to me!) but overall the edit is solid throughout but falls a bit short in terms of being a replacement to the original.

Thanks Leeroy, fair points there. The microwave emitter subplot is some of my least favourite exposition in any movie so it was a great relief to be rid of it, but it does require the viewer to believe the LOS would have access to such a machine without knowing how/why, and for some, that might be a frustrating element. I would have kept Swear to Me! (great line!) if only Bale's performance was less OTT.

This edit is an almost perfect cut of Batman Begins. The video and audio quality is superb, and the editing is expertly performed. I thought the pacing was a lot more streamlined and never felt like it dragged.
The removal of the whole DA and Wayne Enterprises subplots really gets the narrative moving and is certainly not missed. Regarding the character of Carl, I thought that the scene between him and Rachel was rather unnecessary, as it may confuse first-time viewers as to who he is (especially since we never see him again). It's only a minor criticism, and it doesn't affect the overall film, but it's just a slight criticism :)
As far as the colour correction is concerned, I too always disliked the yellow/brown filter, so this fanedit is supreme in that it fits in perfectly with the colour scheme of the later films; brilliant idea!
I think the shortened version of the dialogue between Bruce and Rachel strangely works, so no complaint on my part.

Overall, amazing job! I look forward to watching the next two films :)

Thanks for the review ad_phoenix! Great to get some feedback on the colour correction, that was always a sticking point with BB for me. Cheers for watching :)

An excellent fanedit! Fans of Nolan's Bat Trilogy will love this cut, much tighter and less groan-worthy. I didn't "agree" with every cut, but no major harm was done. The only nitpick is (as others have mentioned also) the de-emphasis on "It's not who you are underneath..." Mainly because now Rachel realizes he's Batman because "oh, he said 5 short words in an ungravelly voice."

Other than that, this was super-groovy!

Thanks Neg! Less groan worthy was certainly the intention, so that is a great outcome. Your comment about Rachel/Bruce's dialogue makes it 3 mentions among the reviews, so certainly close to earning a slightly modified version for a few viewers. Again, I'd be happy to do that, as it would be a five minute adjustment. Personally, I can't handle the "it's what I doooo that defines me". Talk about groan worthy, for me that's near the top of the list. Let me know if you'd be interested in a v2 with those bits back in, or if you're content with v1 as is.

This one does replace the original for me. I had read the previous reviews before watching this edit and was prepared for feeling like something would be missing from the Rachel and Bruce relationship, but for me, those fears were totally unfounded.
There were exactly 2 things in this edit that felt the tiniest bit off and they were: I was slightly thrown by Bruce being in jail and then suddenly being tossed out of a truck at the bottom of a mountain. (It has been a while since I watched the original, so for all I remember, this is what happened in the original as well). And the other, was Rachel apologizes for saying some "terrible things" to Bruce at the very end, but I don't recall her doing that. But in this watching experience it is easy to assume whatever it was was off screen and in their past.
Other than that, this is a pretty damned flawless edit and was a much more fun movie to watch than it was originally. An easy recommendation from me!

Thanks for the review anarchemist, great to hear such positive feedback. You're right about the transition from the prison to the road, that is unedited from the original, and I agree it is a little sudden. As for Rachel's, "I said terrible things", she is referring to their conversation in the car after Joe Chill is murdered. She tells him that his father would be ashamed of him, and that he should look beyond his own pain. This is why she acknowledges at the end of the film that she was wrong, and that Bruce's father would indeed be very proud of him. Cheers for watching and reviewing!

Audio/Video quality was top notch, I didn't see any issues

I agree with dangermouse for the most part. I don't agree with your cutting most of Rachel and Bruce's dialog, since while it was a little awkward and clumsy, it was also very important to the story and establishes the theme of "the Bat or the Man". I also am a fan of the hallucination scenes, so I personally would like to see them here. Also, SWEAR TO ME is a classic line. That needs to come back.

Much like dangermouse I can't say this will replace Batman Begins for me, if you have a second version that addresses his complaints, then absolutely it would. However, I still recommend this cut, because it really does go a long way to addressing a lot of the issues the original had.

Hey soufihadi, thank you for your review :) Putting back in the scene with Rachel and Bruce and the "Swear to Me" line would be pretty easy. If there's enough interest in that, I'll put out another version in the future. I can guarantee I won't be putting the CGI hallucinations back in though! You'll have to go back to the original for that... ;)
