I added this fan edit to Grindhouse instead of the original death proof.
Death Proof just works so much better when you focus the story on Mike, as a standalone film, and especially when you watch it as part of Grindhouse, also because the lap dance scene is in the trailer for Grindhouse but not in the actual movie.

This fan edit removes so many unnecessary scenes that just drag the pace which is a huge problem if you watch Grindhouse

Negatives: The addition of Wilhelm's scream is unnecessary, and some scenes needed more time (but the goal of this edit was to make a 1-hour version of the film)

I really enjoyed this edit and it flowed masterfully taking all the best bits and making a nice easy to digest and watch 60 minute episodic watch... The opening title and actors names displayed in the beginning really made it feel like a tv episode more so than the other edits in this series that I have watched thus far for whatever reason - that stood out to me from the get go.

It's been some time since I watched this one but the one very minor misstep for me was the music for the lap dance scene seemed out of place for me BUT then you go and redeem yourself with the ABBA track during the car scene... that was a fantastic addition....

Besides that one personal music opinion which didn't affect my enjoyment this one was a blast Dawnrazor...

What a treat that was! I've enjoyed every iteration of this so far, both when I saw it in the theater and then again when I got the extended cut, but I think this is the best version of the three. It's still split pretty evenly between the two halves, and the runtime is closer to the cut we got in Grindhouse, but the stuff that was cut from this version to get to that running time is the stuff I'd prefer to go. Don't get me wrong; I still love the indulgent feature-length cut. It's a lot of fun, but if I'm honest it's pretty shaggy. This edit retains all the best stuff from the full cut while telling a tighter version of the story. The Audio and Visual editing was spot-on. No notes.

It's funny, by pure coincidence, I saw vanishing point for the first time a week before watching this edit.

This was good. I like how there are parts that have "technical difficulties" or "missing footage". It really went well with what grindhouse was meant to be.

Part 1 and part 2 were both 30 minute segments. It can feel a little rushed in the first half, That said, I 100% can't remember whats been cut. So it's not missed.

Its an enjoyable cut for sure.

It was a long time since I saw that movie so I went in Dawnrazor's edit almost like it was my first time. And it felt complete and coherent. I could not remember anything that was missing from the original. Of course I went back to the it afterward and scrubbed through it to compare the two versions and I think I can say Dawnrazor's edit it pretty good at removing the superfluous and unnecessary stuff! Job well done on that front! Both versions feel like two episodes of a series stitched together and that remains as well. I was bothered by the visuals being different from one "episode" to the other, but that is also how Tarantino did it so nothing wrong here. I'm the kind of guy who thinks perfection is not from this world, so I took one point down from enjoyment because I did not like the addition of the "Missing Reel" card. I guess it was added to cover the clothes change scene missing but it was a bit goofy and took me out of the experience.
it's an otherwise very good episode of TTT. I recommend it. and can't wait to see more.
