Superman II: The Hybrid Cut

I’m not sure there is much point in reviewing so old and well known an edit, but I’ve watched it so I’ll rate it. I agree with both of bluman22′s nitpicks and don’t care much for the elevator bully, but as Ripplin correctly observed it is impossible to please everyone. Adigitalman had a vision for the edit that he implemented consistently, which is what I look for in an edit. This is not my ideal version of Superman II, but it is a thoroughly enjoyable one that makes the right editing choices more often than not.

Video quality was absolutely fine, and the audio editing was very impressive. I particularly liked the alternate cue at the beginning. Presentation was fine. I will say that the Donner and Lester footage don’t quite match in terms of color, and, while careful editing has stopped the differences being too pronounced, one can sometimes see the transition. Color correction is a pain though, and this is an older edit. I hope to see ADM revisit his Superman edits one day.

It’s 9 out of 10 from me too. This is classic adigitalman!

It seems there will never be a version that appeals to every single fan, but this one must surely be the closest! I thorougly enjoyed it and have shared it with others as well. It just does everything right. ADM did everyone a great service with his Superman edits, and they are defintiely the ones to take off the shelf whenever you get a hankerin’ for some Superman action. Very, very well done, sir, and thank you so much!

I have always enjoyed Superman II a lot, being my favourite Superman Movie of all times. However, as I grew old I realised that at some points it had its flaws points. This was suposed to be changed with the Richard Donner version. Unfortunately that did not happen.

The good thing is that now, thanks to this fanedit created by adigitalman you will have the opportunity to watch the best of the two movies as it was one unique and good film.
