I’m not sure there is much point in reviewing so old and well known an edit, but I’ve watched it so I’ll rate it. I agree with both of bluman22′s nitpicks and don’t care much for the elevator bully, but as Ripplin correctly observed it is impossible to please everyone. Adigitalman had a vision for the edit that he implemented consistently, which is what I look for in an edit. This is not my ideal version of Superman II, but it is a thoroughly enjoyable one that makes the right editing choices more often than not.
Video quality was absolutely fine, and the audio editing was very impressive. I particularly liked the alternate cue at the beginning. Presentation was fine. I will say that the Donner and Lester footage don’t quite match in terms of color, and, while careful editing has stopped the differences being too pronounced, one can sometimes see the transition. Color correction is a pain though, and this is an older edit. I hope to see ADM revisit his Superman edits one day.
