This is a good fanedit of what is on all accounts a pretty bad film, but this fanedit makes it a lot better.

The film in this form is coherent and has a pretty nice flow narratively compared to the absolute minefield of the theatrical cut.

One thing this edit does highlight is how much the original relied on style over substance. The plot in this streamlined version is as basic as they come, and this maybe highlights that the material isn't there to warrant these characters being "friends" by the end of the film. Which is more a comment on the original than this fan edit.

The editing is never noticeable which is obviously the main aim with a project like this, but some segments do seem a little rushed. The Joker is in this even less than the theatrical (not a bad thing necessarily) but it does almost feel strange to have such a big hitter of the DC world have such limited screen time, but again I feel this is more a comment of the film than this edit. The Joker didn't really have a role in the film outside of flashbacks and they were distracting to the plot. So overall I get the decision to trim him out as much as possible.

So hats off to the editor. They definitely achieve their goal of making a bad film better. I actually felt like I liked the leads by the end of this edit, which is more than can be said for the original. So yeah, the editor has successfully made the film focus on Deadshot, Harley and Flag and this is the main improvement. There is actually some focus to this movie, compared to the jumbled mess that was released.

Wakeupkeo says they make bad movies less bad, and that statement couldn't be truer about Suicide Squad. The theatrical version of Suicide Squad is a disaster, filled with bad jokes and horrendous editing. Wakeupkeo edit fixes all of those problems and also ties the film in with the wider DCEU by changing the dialogue between The Enchantress and her brother. The audio and video quality were great in my opinion and I saw no issues with the editing. The changes in this edit improve the film's narrative tremendously and to say I enjoyed this more than the theatrical cut would be an understatement. In short, I recommend this edit highly to see a terrible film become better.

Why do I watch Fanedits? This is one of the reasons. I understand when a movie is made sometimes things need to be added to bring in the segments of people they want. I prefer movies that tell stories and without all the glitz and glamor and extra bells and whistles. Just give me a story I can get behind that is the world I am "entering" is believable. And for me this checks all the boxes. I am not sitting and watching and thinking "why did they do that?". I had a good time and was entertained and that is what matters to me. Two big bowls of popcorn was enjoied.

I'm very happy that more DC edits are being tackled than just Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman. Suicide Squad is a severely underrated flick that has some legitimately great elements to it (it did win an Oscar for its make-up and costuming after all).

This edit is a great refinement of the original film, with minimal invasive editing. The editor had a clear vision for this edit, which shows.

My rating criteria is specific to me and me alone. I could see and hear the film, so 10/10. The audio editing was seamless, so 10/10. The narrative is coherent, so 10/10. Unfortunately there were 2 moments in the film that felt somewhat jarring to me, which is why I can only put the visual editing at a 9/10. These moments were Enchantress' revival of her brother and during the final act when Enchantress attempts to distract the Squad with illusions. Both times felt like they were moving at breakneck speeds and I can't help but feel they should have been just a bit longer. As such, my immersion was slightly hampered, so I can really only say 9/10 for enjoyment. The best edits, I feel, are the ones where you can't see the edits.

Overall, amazing cut from a very talented editor.

It's been awhile since I watched the original but my god this cut blew me away. The new subtitles regarding Apokolips was ingenious and really enjoyed the efficiency in storytelling. Less joker, less Enchantress. Sucks we will never see the Ayer cut but this is the way to watch the film.

Maybe it's just been the edits I've been watching but this was the first where I didn't notice any flaws in the video or audio. It also included subtitles which is a big plus.
