Although I'm solidly in the "pro-TLJ" camp, there were definite problems that I had with the film, largely to do with Rose's character and the humour (which seemed more at place in a Marvel movie that in Star Wars) and this edit smoothes out nearly all of my problems. This will be my "go-to" version to watch from here on out. (In fact, with a bit of splicing in from the TFA trailer, as a "previously on..." you could almost call this version "Star Wars: The Epilogue" and have it stand completely on its own from the Abrams-directed entries. But I'll withhold making that fan edit myself until I get my eyeballs on Hal9000's cuts of those films!)

As good as HAL's "Force Awakens" edit. If you liked that, you'll like this one, too. As always, there are a few narrative choices where I would have zigged where he zagged, but this isn't my edit, it's his. Kudos to him for seeing his vision through!

The details have already been covered well. For me the biggest help has been the big trims, mainly the Finn/Rose storyline and the casino. Those distracted and dragged the whole movie down. Now pacing is great; things move along and it's an enjoyable storyline. I'm not sure how to resolve Leia's spacewalk, and that's really the only weird hitch in the move for me now.

There isn't much I can add to what others have said. The editing, both video and sound, are topnotch with neither having any obvious cuts/transitions. PQ and SQ are excellent, and the pacing of the edit works well. Hal is right that this is a fairly conservative edit, but I do wish he'd taken a few more liberties. I realize moments in films are subjective, but the big four that bother me that remain: Luke milking that large alien, flying Leia, Rose kissing fin, and the final scene of the boy going to clean the hanger. If these had been removed I would have easily given this edit a 10 out of 10.

I share quite a history with TLJ (see my review of DonKamillo's Anti-Cringe-Cut for the full story). Long story short: for almost two years this film really my hurt my ever-lasting love for Star Wars. Until I discovered the fanedits of this film.

The Fallen Knight made me not hate it anymore, the Anti-Cringe-Cut made me like it and TLJ: Legendary made me love it. Perfect video and audio quality/editing (visually TLJ has always been an impressing film) and 100% improved storytelling by getting rid of all disctracting things (which there too many of to name them all).
Only things I didn't like that are still in this edit: the shot of Luke drinking milk, Carrie Poppins and Rose saving Finn.

Gladly TLJ: Rekindled by poppasketti builds up on this edit and fixes all of my remaining problems with this. If it holds up by video/audio quality/editing, it'll be my definitive go-to version for the future.

Nonetheless: thank you, Hal9000 for the amazing work! As always a fantastic edit. Really excited for the finished version of TROS: Ascendant, the workprint v4 is already quite good.
