I think this is a great Phantom Menace edit. One of the best. It doesn't try to change too much of the original movie. This is for people who like Phantom Menace but wish it was a little better. Jar Jar is now a humorous character but not annoying. It think the pace is greatly improved and I like the addition of the deleted scenes. The edits and cuts are seamless. And that's coming from someone who has seen this movie tons of times.
My only complaint is that the planet core sequence was completely removed. I know a lot of people hate it, but I think they should lighten up. This underwater monster/action sequence is what Star Wars is all about. Personally I love the sequence. Qui-Gon saying "there's always a bigger fish" is iconic Star Wars to me. I have seen other fan edits streamline the planet core sequence and remove all Jar Jar annoyance and it works well.
Overall, this edit is better than the original. If this edit had part of the planet core sequence added back in, it would be a perfect edit for me.

I very much enjoyed this edit. Most noticable to me: I did not find Jarjar or Anakin annoying anymore. The decision to make Anakins actions less conincidental work fine for me. I get the idea of a child jedi not being shown already THAT skilled, but by trimming all those little "funny" "ohohs" and "oops" in the last part of the movie, the tone of the various scenes is much more consistent. The inclusion of the bonus scene with qui-gon manages to establish a father-son bond better than the original ever achieved.
Regarding Jar-jar: I think it shows that the character could work, the original cut just pushed too much of him and the sillyness in, often ruining the previously established mood.
A great version and I highly recommend watching it!

Basing my review compared to the Original.

Spence has done a fantastic job here at making The Phantom Menace flow much better than the original. One problem I have with a lot of edits is that they completely remove the Gungan City, which I believe to be a major part of the theme of this movie. Spence was able to keep it in, while streamlining the journey to get to the surface as well.

As far as the audio/video quality, it is near perfect. If you are a massive Star Wars fan like myself, you may notice that something is missing, but it is purely because I have seen this movie way too many times and am now used to the original.

Jar Jar is toned down I feel like the perfect amount. His inclusion has never been the issue imo, but the poop jokes were never funny. With those and other needless antics removed, he feels more in line with what I would have expected him to be.

Lastly, the final battle order is changed up just slightly, but it works so much better imo.

I would absolutely recommend that you use this version for your next Star Wars viewing.

Well let's see here ....another Star Wars edit. One of how many? Anyway for me Spence made this a tolerable movie for me. I still cringe when Jar Jar is involved. But with Spence's edits made this a much smoother experience for me. I only gave the 9 for enjoyment is because I'm kinda on a Star Wars overload. I enjoy Spences other edits and I am sure I will find positive things to say about the other Star Wars edits. As usual no techie stuff from me just the enjoyment factor. Even with Jar jar still around and yet another Star Wars title on my pop corn scale I will give this a 4 out of 5. May the force help me when I watch the other Star Wars titles
