SO this is about FUN for me.
And this was Great Fun!

The Grindhouse treatment is often used and not always is the gimmick enough, to keeo the film intressting for more than the fast laugh.
In this case the mix is good, one scne is clear enough, the next more washed up and the Soundtrack will haunt you.

No one ever woulod have a need to replace the original, but this is a brilliant party movie.
I had freinds over and we had a good time with this.
It will never replace the original but this edit is not meant to do that.

I highly recommend this edit!

This is a fabulous take on an old classic. The music score alone totally changes the feel, but is perfectly suited to the film and the 1970's Grindhouse genre.

I caught some of the added bits of dialog and laughed because I knew EXACTLY where at least one came from, and it works perfectly here.

I only knocked one star off the audio because it appeared too soft in numerous areas, but because this is GRINDHOUSE, that should not be a concern. I just really had to crank my sound system to catch bits of the dialog at times.

It's definitely worth a watch, especially if you're looking forward to watching Alien in a new way!

I wish I had something to complain about and beast out on a star or two, but any niggles I have are resulting from necessity to work around a lack of original footage and a Hollywood studio. Its just unfair to criticise what are in fact the hard parts to pull off.

Even a slight gripe over the point of the Star Beast trailer I saw not being fully represented in this fan-edit turns out to be over a positive aspect of the movie. Whereas I was wondering at the viability of overt sexual violence and the presence of non-cast naked women in showers - Gieferg delivers entirely appropriate covert voyuer activity with affect to acute subversion of the main characters. Combining this debauched undertone with the choppy semi-abstracted scene progression carried along beautifully by the well picked music Alien becomes a rip-roaring flood of gaffs interspersed with chilled observance of a bunch of goons falling headlong into the nightmare that awaits them. Quite an achievement given the source metarial. Removal of the layer of tension lays bare the underlying absurdities.

I do love the way this fan-editor does their Grindhousing. It looks like alot of effort goes into the application of every luminar distortion, skippy projection, and that obligatory frizzle. Really good shots are left undisturbed, while things are livened up by the degraded film standards. Indeedy.

All in all this is a solid contribution to the Alien franchise. Here's looking to 'Star Beasts'!!!

The film's deliberate pacing really lends itself to an extended edit. Well done with the musical cues and the choice of cuts and stitches. The grindhouse esthetic is pretty well realized as well. The care shown comes through in the diversity of sources used.

I do so enjoy the Grindhouse versions of edits available in the Fanedit community. They bring me back to the fun days (actually nights) at the drive-in As a kid, a teenager and parent myself. Just watching with the giant smile I had. As ususal no techie stuff from me. From the start with the previews of other titles all the way through the film, total enjoyment. For me on this one I'm bummed I can only give a 10 for enjoyment. My scale of popcorn, 5 being top notch I give this a 7 bagger. Can't wait to watch the other titles
