I watched this edit again recently and felt I had to add another review.
Agent 9 has done some fantastic work adding in deleted scenes even going so far as completing the SFX on some which still required wire removal etc. The video quality is excellent.
I too felt that Fifield and Milburn receive more cuts than they deserved, their leaving the exploration team was so abrupt I actually said "What?" out loud.
I still feel the musical score was very overwhelming in some places, occasionally drowning out the characters or effects, but other than that there are no obvious audio flaws,
These gripes aside, I still enjoyed the edit far more than the original, and enjoyed it as a fanedit even more the second time around.

Keep up the great work Agent 9 ^_^

I have just watched this Agent 9's fan edit of Prometheus. To begin with, let me say that Prometheus is a very bad movie, and nothing seems to change this fact. I thought maybe a new edit could have saved it, but it is still what it is, and Prometheus basic concepts are embarrassingly ridiculous.

With that said, I'll leave my thoughts about the movie, and continue with the actual edit. This version is a feat in itself , and manages to rescue many of the very worst parts. By cutting away a lot of unnecessary and - above all - silly parts, the film is worth seeing, without compromising on quality. Speaking of quality, it is topnotch and I did not notice any new edits or other adjustments.

(Be warned, possible spoilers ahead:)

Agent 9 has chosen to remove several parts that are terribly bad, such as the exploding head, Fifields ridiculous howl and the scene where Vickers and Janek decides to leave the control bridge to have some private time. This last mentioned change does however lead to a logical gap: if Janek would not have left the control bridge, he would reasonably noted that Fifield and Milburn were in trouble. Which of course might have lead to another chain of events. However, I prefer this change, it makes Janek much more credible and captain-like.

I am not sure that the color corrections were necessary, but since I did not notice them, I guess they were well considered.

I liked all added scenes, they give the movie more depth.

What I did not like:

As for the sound, I noticed that the applause at the opening scene sounds rattling, like sound with low quality.

Im have not compared, but I suspect that some scenes where cut, when Prometheus is entering the alien planet. I wish that some of these were kept, because they add lot of atmosphere, and are a beautiful and almost poetic part of the movie.

Other than that, I believe that Agent 9 done an excellent job and would highly recommend this version before the theatrical version.

This is what the original version of the movie should have been. The edit does all what it sets out to do, within the limits of the source material.

This is the same movie but its tone is darker now. Agent 9 reintegrated the scenes that provide context to certain actions of the characters - actions that seem out of character or out of place given the situation in the original cut. Now it all falls into place and improves the overall narrative, narrowing the focus. The characters are stronger now and more believable.

This is a more powerful Prometheus than the one we have seen at the theatre. One can only guess why Sir Scott decided to downgrade his own creation, leaving us guessing not about the mystery left unanswered but about the plotholes it left. Agent 9's version fixes all of this.

It's a not a tale about a mystery found in the cave anymore. This is the proper prequel to Alien. It doesn't want to give you the same action as Alien did, it wants to show you why and how it came into being. And this version is more focused on it than the theatrical cut.

Agent 9 handles everything with a great respect for the source material and love for its roots. And it shows in the care with which he restores the scenes that have been originally cut out. The video quality is top notch, audio is good but has some problems with fade ins and outs here and there. While it's still good it is the least impressive element of this edit, which doesn't mean it's bad at all. It's just because everything else is so good that small problems with audio simply stand out.

Although I appreciated the use of the Alien score in some place (while it was subtle), it's not so subtle it should have been in couple of other places. I don't mind the score itself but the volume of it is to loud in the scenes that would benefit from more silence instead. As Alien movie itself teaches us, silence is scarier than a score with a volume trying to terrify you. The scene where Weyland confronts the Engineer or the scene where the Engineer chases Shaw are supported by a very loud score that ends up being distracting, and it actually removes the tension or pathos it should provide or enhance.

Thankfully this is the only criticism I have, other than that I wish this was the theatrical version. Maybe someday Sir Scott will decide to restore Prometheus to the glory it never had, but in the meantime Agent 9's version is the next best thing.

I've watched it twice now and can say for sure this is my favourite version! This is what it should have been!
I love how you've effectively cured most of the silly scenes and made others better flowing either by making them shorter with slight rearrangements, or with more effective music to suit the scene. Not to mention I loved the Alien music integration! Why Ridley left those scenes out I'll never know...they work so well! They gave more gravitas to Weyland's presence on the ship, the "love" between Charlie and Elizabeth that much more acceptable. David's motives becoming clearer. There were a couple of little gripes (nit picking really) - thought when Fifield says "I'm out of here" then walks off, there was silence which made it feel abrupt. As they were walking away Charlie could have said "pull yourself together" with the addition of an Alien "clunk" (the one you used upon landing). The Alien music just before the text appears when Prometheus is travelling through space near the beginning could have been filtered out less abruptly or even left to play through whole scene. A suggestion (though it may not fit well) would be when Charlie gets incinerated the screen goes bright white...could maybe have Ellie have a flashback to the engineer crumbling at the beginning of the original, fragmented. Reinforcing the theme that progress/evolution does not come without sacrifice. Would have ended the movie just when the "deacon" explodes out of the engineer revealing the back of it's head and used more sinister music when credits roll replacing Chopin. I love your use of colour correction - the look and feel of the movie is now in a more Alien vain. 9.5/10

Being a big Alien fan the theatrical release of Prometheus was a disappointment, on second viewing I enjoyed it more, probably due to my expectations being somewhat lowered.

This edit improves on the theatrical release for me and I certainly enjoyed watching it.

The movie flows better and the inclusion or removal of certain scenes make more sense. I liked the color correction and the excellent work on bringing the deleted scenes up to release quality. The use of original Alien theme music was also welcome although overall I found the music soundtrack to overwhelm the vocals in several places.
