I was one of those people that absolutely despised Prometheus. This version, however, is much more palatable and mysterious, and overall I found I enjoyed it much more.

The new opening using the TED talk is absolutely genius and really ties everything together, along with Shaw's message to Weyland. Not seeing the Engineer until much later really helps in us caring about the characters and their mission. The alternate version of Fifield's attack on the ship was much more effective and ties it in better with the Alien series. The editing is seamless across the board and very well done.

There are still a few things that probably could've been cut. Though moving the Scotland scene and the Engineer on Earth scene works much better than the original cut, I really believe both of those scenes could've been cut entirely. The pacing could've been improved by removing them. There's also a shot of Shaw getting thrown against a wall where she clearly has a wire attached to her, as well as a shot with a few green screen monitors before the effects were added. I assume this is from the deleted scenes, so I can't blame you for not adding the effects, but I personally would've preferred not having these shots at all as they were quite noticeable.

This is probably the best version you'll get of this movie. It's still not perfect and at times rather infuriating, but it is a huge improvement. Kudos to the editor on a job well done!

THANK YOU!

you have singlehandedly made this mess of plotholes, one dimensional characters into something watchable.

you have made a lot of good choices where ridley fell flat.

this has more of a Alien 1 theme now - it's dark and mysterious, it's still beautiful to look at.
it's easier to follow without the constant distractions of poor character choices or gaping plotholes.

but you could go farther:
remove the whole Vickers/Janek One night stand thing, i know it's in there to show vickers is not completely dead to emotion and is unlike david, not an android child of weyland.

SPOILER ALERT
why is the protoxenomorph in the end not screaming out? felt weird...

Negative Points for the 2.0 Mix on Audio, this movie is a blast on a channels - why mix it down?

this has taken the movie from a 6.5 to a 7.9 for me - now i'm looking forward to prometheus 2 again (and if that sucks too - severian can jump in and fix that too)

This was the first fanedit I watched for a year or so and I chose this one, because of the good reviews and because the original was quite a disappointment for me, but had so much potential and atmosphere. I for one had no idea how this one could be salvaged and that's where fanedits come in and are always a surprise how by reordering and deleting scenes a true improvement can be achieved.
For a firstling this was simply outstanding. Video and audio were just fine, no hard cuts or bad audio transitions. The title card was not impressive and my 4GB mp4 was a bit milky, but technically these are the only complaints. Editing-wise this was marvellously done.
I was much more entertained by this version and I can only say thank you for cutting out so much bad stuff, especially the Charlize Theron scenes, resulting in the war of the bitches, which you gladly cut. This was a much better, improved version of Prometheus, still not a great movie, but an almost incredible improvement.
One scene I did not like was the life creation scene in Shaw's flashback. It did not feel right there for me.
Overall, thank you, thank you, thank you, Severian, for taking so much time and turning this movie into a truly watchable one. Well done. Fanedits rock.

This turned a good movie into an almost great movie. It still has flaws but it's a much more smart sci-fi film and less generic.

The structure was vastly improved thanks to the deleted and extended scenes. The only part that felt out of place was the flashback sequence after Charlie's death. It was well done, but felt off.

Prometheus was one of the most conceptually ambitious sci-fi films to come out of Hollywood in many years. The film's genuine weaknesses were justly criticised but unfortunately the Alien-related hype created false expectations, leading a surprising number of people to completely diss the film. That's unfair and such arguments are easily rebuked upon closer examination.

I'm a fan of the original while being acutely aware of its flaws. I'd give the theatrical cut 6.5 out of 10. Severian's fanedit is a real pleasure and brings the film up to at least 8 out of 10 for me.

I don't have much to to add to the technical comments others have made already. Generally the editing and mixing is of a high standard.

Narratively, the film is quite substantially improved and a good deal of thought has gone into the use of deleted scenes. Lisbeth's relationship with Hollaway is better fleshed out, for example, even though a smug, swaggering, self-aware actor like Logan-Marshal Green was clearly the wrong choice for the part of her doctor/scientist lover. While I wouldn't say the new opening sequence is better than the original, it's powerful and very different in tone. Moving the arrival of the Engineers on ancient Earth into a dream sequence of Lisbeth's in the middle of the film is an intriguing idea. Racial memory? Something else?

And most of the film's stupidities are gone - excellent work there. Too bad we can't get rid of Charlize Theron's embarrassing performance as a stereotypical hard-bitch. She's saddled with the film's worst written main character, so it's not all her fault.

All up it's amazing for a first fanedit. Congats to Severian.
