2012's The Amazing Spider-Man is actually one of the better Spidey films overall, but despite that one has to admit that it's all over the place. Too much going on at the same time, too many subplots that ultimately amount to nothing, too doubtful a tone. With so much executive meddling that it suffered, it's kind of a miracle it's even this watchable.

So what it needed was some streamlining and some focus, and that is exactly what this edit provides. Doesn't waste any time in filler subplots, instead getting to the core, a very comic-booky story about a relatable hero vs. a pitiable villain. It even fixes the one thing I found off in Andrew Garfield's Spidey portrayal: I found his quips more mean-spirited than playful, and the trims they receive in this cut render it close to how I always pictured our favorite arachnid. And the new ending does indeed pack quite the emotional punch.

If you like the theatrical release, you'll love this cut. If you don't, you will likely find a new appreciation for it in this form. Excelsior!

Now, eagerly awaiting Part 2. And knowing how I feel about the theatrical TASM 2, that is quite a feat!

(Incidentally: if you're a comic book fan there's something that may make you chuckle: the lyrics of the song used for a deleted scene happen to title-drop a certain infamous arc in the comics...)

From my perspective, the first TASM was always a good movie with its own interesting take on Spidey. It's grounded in terms of tone and story theme, but still manages to retains much aspects that makes Spidey, well..... Spidey. But admittedly, there's parts of the movie that are objectively bad which affects the overall pacing and narrative flow. For example: The revenge subplot. I always felt it was a good idea to have a subplot where Peter's personality and morals can be tested, but unfortunately what we got in the TC was just too overlong and bloated. Your version easily fixes the problem by removing it, making the the narrative more cohesive and seamless. You also did some cuts here and there to remove the edgier part where Peter acts like a jerk and out of character, that's a plus and makes Peter more relatable right from the start.

First, let me state that Spiderman has ALWAYS been one of my favorite comic characters, right up there with Superman. As a kid, I loved the 1977 TV series starring Nicholas Hammond as Spiderman. The Sam Raimi trilogy was perfection (even number 3), so when these two movies came out, I bought them on DVD and was totally disappointed. I shelved them with little interest in re-watching. Then, when "No Way Home" came out and Garfield appeared, I was surprised how much I liked him. I always intended to revisit the two films, but finally decided to do it watching this fanedit version instead.

First, I'm giving this all 10's because it works. Yes, I did catch a formerly deleted scene having a slight (very slight) degraded quality from the rest of the movie, but I'm not faulting the faneditor for that. The scene works and I'm glad it is put back into the film. The thing that makes this fanedit so much better than the original is that Garfield is now a far more likeable character and not some "punk jerk kid."

I'm still not a huge fan of this film, but at least now it's worth watching. My wife said, "I really like this," so that is VERY high praise. If you're a fan of "No Way Home," but never liked the Garfield movies and thought about revisiting them, then this is the way to do it.
