I hadn't seen this movie since it first came out, and I remember the disappointment I had at the time with too many plot lines and villains stuffed in. I have to say that revisiting the ASM movies through Masirimso17 "untold" edits has given me a whole new appreciation for this film. The video quality and editing was superb. The only time I caught myself really noticing it was an edit was due a scene location that was outside of Masirimso17's control (Peter walking out of a subway tunnel for no apparent reason and receiving a voicemail from Gwen).

Overall this is a much tighter movie that was much more enjoyable to watch without the extra baggage weighing it down.

The dubbed in Osborn line felt a biiit rough and tots an obvious edit, but beyond that I was surprised by how easily I found myself able to enjoy this one. Most of the family conspiracy stuff being relocated to the first Untold edit felt like a good call, as all that felt more natural to be placed there I thought with how that movie has way more to do with the origin aspect of the story than this movie's more typical: 'Peter Parker deals with Spider-Man drama and his life gets complicated' focused storyline.

The only other understandable kind of gripe I might have is that because of how the Aunt May scene where she sees Peter's conspiracy wall and they have their lil heart to heart was also moved to the first edit, she unfortunately doesn't get too much screen time besides the great american flag joke and the cutaways to her in the hospital; which now might feel a tad out of place if you don't remember her mentioning her gig as nurse from back then. Totally understandable though - as this movie's a bit all over the place anyway, but still, I thought I'd mention ;)

Overall yeah - with this edit now the movie's just a more refined and classic kinda Spider-Man flick. With that good empathetic Peter Parker drama, banter, and positivity :) Well done.

I enjoyed this edit. The editing was pretty much flawless. The pace was much improved upon. The theatrical version was overstuffed and this streamlines it very well.

This fanedit is from the same editor of the first film and completes his vision of the Amazing Spider-man films, one where the first film completes the story about the mystery of Peter’s past, while the second film focuses only on Peter’s present. Sort of. By nature of the plot of this film, Harry Osborne is an old friend of Peter’s who comes home due to the death of his father and Max becomes Electro, and Gwen Stacy is moving to London, and yeah it’s still a bit jumbled, but the fanedit removing the Parker parents subplot makes it far less so. The fanedit allows these plots to breathe or take up their own space more. There’s a few moments where “this is an edit” pop out to me, pretty much any time the Richard Parker briefcase is seen in the closet.

Yet the things that always worked about the Amazing Spider-man films, the Gwen Peter young love story, the Spider-man character’s fluid movements, the two electro fight set-pieces, the emotional climax, and Garfield’s over-abundance of responsibility. The fan-edit mostly is to streamline its focus on the three main stories above, yet they all feel really disparate, almost as if they only intermingle due to plot devices to get us there.

I have to say though, I still think the emotional climax of the film taking place (during the Goblin fight) is a beautifully conceived moment and maybe one of the best moments of Spider-man film franchise history. It adds a huge sense of gravitas to the film that really was struggling to find it’s identity.

A few things this edit does to improve the original cut is the wonderful new theme for Harry, it’s haunting and it works. Harry here is introduced right from the get go and it really does make the story feel like it’s about Peter and Harry than it is about Electro as the main villain. It helps a ton and really ties the opening and ending climax, as well as the opening shot of the watch and the ending of the clock. It’s all about how much time these characters have with each other, strengthening Harry’s thematic motivations of trying to fight his disease.

It’s a super strong edit one I really enjoyed. My favorite thing about these two edits is the new openings. They tie the films thematically so much better than the original openings did.

So, i was honestly surprised by how a middling to poor movie has been molded into a solid, good Spider-Man movie, complete with all the necessary elements; you have bravery, conflict, pathos, heroism, pace and a much needed clarity. Won't waste time; pairing it with masirimso's TASM untold extended edition, this follow up is definitely a hot recommend, Good watch, man, masirimso has done it again.
