I watched and really liked Alien Covenant. This version feels like a veery good extended cut of the original movie, the inserts of deleted material fits perfectly into it. sometimes it distracts from the main plot but i enjoyed watching the movie with all the inserted scenes. The editor also deleted unnecessary stuff.
This version takes a long time for the first act. I recommend that you watch the original movie first, then you can enjoy the additions this cut gives you because it takes much of the mysteries covenant creates.

The fact is you will never go wrong watching any of Wraith's edits. His editing skills and exceptional attention to detail set the gold standard for fan editing, in my humble opinion. He treats every project he takes on as though it were his own film, and it shows in the finished product.

Alien: Covenant is one of the worst films in the canon, but it's loaded with solid actors giving strong performances and the visuals are top notch. That's all Wraith needed to craft a worthy entry in the Alien series.

The addition of the prologue sequence pays big dividends later in the film and is a perfect example of how a minor change can have a huge impact on the narrative. There are numerous small tweaks and adjustments throughout the edit and all are invisible and expertly done, but anyone who has seen Wraith's Eastrail edits knows that he is far more than a technician. This really is a new way to watch Alien: Covenant and the only way I will watch the film from here on out.

I can't recommend any of Wraith's work highly enough.

Choosing to include this as part of my ALIEN series rewatch in preparing for ALIEN ROMULUS' upcoming release, I was honestly stunned with how much I enjoyed this fanedit and how much of an improvement I feel this cut is above the theatrically released one. Wraith's use of the deleted/ supplemental material to reforge the missing first act does absolute wonders for creating more investment in the characters and setting a more suspenseful and alienating (no pun intended) tone for the proceedings, and the new coda at the end is absolutely chilling. The editing and scoring work Wraith has done to integrate the new material is smoothly done throughout, and the more thoughtful and deliberate pacing throughout the new cut of film goes a long way to realigning it to feel better akin to the earlier (and personally best) films in the series. Wraith's cut will be the version of ALIEN COVENANT I watch going forward when I revisit the series in the future; this is the version I wish Ridley Scott and Fox has released. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
