I agree with a lot of the decisions that were made with this edit. Cutting most of the one-liners and bad jokes was a smart move, and it does result in a darker film more tonally aligned with the first two.

Unfortunately, while some of the other changes sound good in theory, they just don't work for me while I'm watching it. Specifically, I didn't think the changes to the future war sequence were necessary. The new opening is kind of cool, but I didn't see any reason to alter the theatrical cut's opening.

The future war imagery with the new music dropped in during John's conversation with Kate in the back of the truck feels out of place, almost like a movie trailer was dropped into the middle of the film.

And having a post-credit scene was fine, but I don't think it was an improvement over the theatrical cut's final line, "The battle has just begun."

I'm sorry. I really wanted to love this cut as much as everyone else. It's just a little rough around the edges.
