First of all big thanks for Wakeupkeo for bringing also this movie from the DC to us in a way less bad version! :)
However the "bad guys" in the original movie material are so bad, it's almost impossible to fix. The dark witch-side of the enchantress is really made well, but has too little time and influence in the movie and too little part of the story, but the version were Cara Delevingne is clearly visibly playing her never worked for me, since we all know why she was hired for the role and it's not because of her good acting. Also that her brother is purely CGI during the important parts makes for 2 really un-compelling villains for our team to be a threat.

Otherwise all the other characters were portrayed way more interestingly in this version, I can gladly say. If there were better villains (with a better role than standing half of the movie with the back in the camera waving at the sky at a CGI cloud *smg*) this could have been a really cool flic for the DC series. Of course, this is not Wakeupkeo 's fault whatsoever since I don't know if cutting more out of the bad guy scenes would diminish the entire story. I just wished there was a way to hide more of the weaknesses of the villains is what I am trying to say.

In the edit itself, the only thing that took me out of it was the subtitles of the newly edited translations. I think the words are chosen well but the style of the subs totally does not fit to the movie, it looks like someone edited it in with her/his personal subtitle style, but it's clear that it was never part of the real movie. This is the only time I ever saw something like this in a fanedit, that a hardcoded subtitle looks like it does no belong,

But besides these two things I enjoyed the rest very well, so the potential is always there with Wakeupkeo, which makes me excited to watch even more of his edits :)

This is a good fanedit of what is on all accounts a pretty bad film, but this fanedit makes it a lot better.

The film in this form is coherent and has a pretty nice flow narratively compared to the absolute minefield of the theatrical cut.

One thing this edit does highlight is how much the original relied on style over substance. The plot in this streamlined version is as basic as they come, and this maybe highlights that the material isn't there to warrant these characters being "friends" by the end of the film. Which is more a comment on the original than this fan edit.

The editing is never noticeable which is obviously the main aim with a project like this, but some segments do seem a little rushed. The Joker is in this even less than the theatrical (not a bad thing necessarily) but it does almost feel strange to have such a big hitter of the DC world have such limited screen time, but again I feel this is more a comment of the film than this edit. The Joker didn't really have a role in the film outside of flashbacks and they were distracting to the plot. So overall I get the decision to trim him out as much as possible.

So hats off to the editor. They definitely achieve their goal of making a bad film better. I actually felt like I liked the leads by the end of this edit, which is more than can be said for the original. So yeah, the editor has successfully made the film focus on Deadshot, Harley and Flag and this is the main improvement. There is actually some focus to this movie, compared to the jumbled mess that was released.

Wakeupkeo says they make bad movies less bad, and that statement couldn't be truer about Suicide Squad. The theatrical version of Suicide Squad is a disaster, filled with bad jokes and horrendous editing. Wakeupkeo edit fixes all of those problems and also ties the film in with the wider DCEU by changing the dialogue between The Enchantress and her brother. The audio and video quality were great in my opinion and I saw no issues with the editing. The changes in this edit improve the film's narrative tremendously and to say I enjoyed this more than the theatrical cut would be an understatement. In short, I recommend this edit highly to see a terrible film become better.

Why do I watch Fanedits? This is one of the reasons. I understand when a movie is made sometimes things need to be added to bring in the segments of people they want. I prefer movies that tell stories and without all the glitz and glamor and extra bells and whistles. Just give me a story I can get behind that is the world I am "entering" is believable. And for me this checks all the boxes. I am not sitting and watching and thinking "why did they do that?". I had a good time and was entertained and that is what matters to me. Two big bowls of popcorn was enjoied.
