When I watched it into theaters, I never hated this movie, I thought it was okay; this edit, while not drastically altering it, transforms Solo into a more satisfying product and an appropriate origin story for one of the greatest characters in the galaxy far far away.
Great work.

I remember being sat in the cinema in 2018 actively squinting at the massive screen. The digital grading was completely obscuring things like clothing and facial detail, rather important for a space adventure! So, watching THIS version tonight, colour-corrected by DigModiFicaTion I can finally, genuinely say, hand on heart that I have now SEEN Solo.
The dozens of tiny little edits for pacing and brevity were all extremely welcome. Trimming back L3-37 was the right thing to do. The ideal would of course have been for the characters in the movie we got to actually CARE and think about her after the tragic loss, but as it is we get a grumpy droid who finds a new calling and then has her life cruelly snuffed out. It is actually MORE reassuring that they don't mess around feeding her mind into the navigation system of the Falcon, because again, that NEEDS to be followed up on for emotional resonance. Also with the new crop of digitally-masked body doubles standing in for beloved characters, this helped me warm to Ehrenreich's performance as Han (Ford being a virtually impossible act to follow). He's a human being and as uncertain as he needs to be. Excellent opening crawl, top notch ending edit. With what was available, this is about as good a film as it could ever be.

This has no right being as fun as it does; DigModification has done a tremendous job tightening the pace of this, giving it the narrative drive that the original was missing and simultaneously allowing the viewer fewer chances to mull over plot implausibilities and convenient coincidences (though hey, it would hardly be Star Wars if there weren't some of those, right?). Chewie and Han renew and strengthen their reputation as one of the great film buddy duos, and Donald Glover as Lando gets to hog the spotlight, as he should.

A great fix-up edit, deserves to be part of your next Star Wars marathon.

The tagline says it all. Do I recommend this? Heck yes. Buy the film and request this edit. I can't imagine anyone being dissatisfied.

I bought the film purely to legally watch this edit, about which I was intrigued. This viewing was my first experience with the film beyond hearsay and to sum up what I knew, the film was dark (like hard-to-see dark), fan-servicey, and sequel-bating. But I'd also heard it was a lot of fun, in spite of itself.

All I know is, I had a blast and didn't notice any of those criticisms. Within 15 minutes, I was swept up and thoroughly enjoying the ride. There was maybe one or two parts that seemed a little off visually, but having not seen the original film, it could be something endemic to the original. My wife watched it with me and she thought it was great, too. This feels like street-level Star Wars.

I recently got “Solo” as an early birthday present, so one of the first things I wanted to do was to download Digmodification’s edit -- a “Star Wars” edit so well-received that it’s currently second only to Adywan’s “A New Hope Revisited”!

The acclaim is well-deserved. Dig’s editing is seamless. I usually didn’t even notice a scene was missing until thinking about it after the movie was over. I don’t even know how he managed to cut the opening sequence in such a way that the “Solo: A Star Wars Story” title is missing without feeling like I’m missing any of the action, but he did.

(Also, bonus points for that cheeky Fox-Disney logo!)

The bit with Han’s last name never bothered me as it did a lot of folks, but I’m glad that it got changed here so that I can watch this with others without having to cringe while wondering how they’ll react to that line. Other characters had cringe-inducing dialogue that I didn’t like myself; those lines have also been removed or toned down.

I have one quibble, in that a few of my favorite humorous moments got cut. In particular, we don’t get the Falcon taking off from the beach, even though Lando still asks for his cut later, and Han still calls him on abandoning them. Since we didn’t see that, that’s the only cut that’s outright noticeable in the course of the film itself.

But as I always say at the end of my day: It’s not my edit. This is Dig’s vision, and he successfully saw it through.

“Solo” is actually one of the better “Star Wars” movies in my opinion, but the fan community (of both Star Wars and fan edits) needed a version with tweaks here and there so it could be embraced by the community without embarrassment. I’m happy to report that this is that version.
