This is the finest edition of TLJ I have ever watched. Almost all the changes introduced here strengthen or (remove poorly) written characters. The footage given to every main character is perfectly integrated. Extending scenes with Luke and huge trimming of Finn or Hux works great. I praise for your editing skills mostly changing the fate of Luke and Leia and making it feels natural during the viewing. Great edition piece the way Holdo reveals the plan to Poe. Nice touch the addition of some parts of TROS which in Abrams' plan I guess he would have included them here. In sum, the movie is much much better than the theatrical release (something easy) but now the editor turns it into a GOOD STAR WARS MOVIE. Endless thanks for your work!!!

I have not been a starwars movie fan in some time. I have not like much of the direction disney has taken the franchise, BUT Im certainly glad that there is money being spent to keep it alive. I can see that DonKamillo has put a LOT of blood sweat and tears into making a movie full of plot holes and stupid character development, into something cohesive and more to the point. Hey he can only work with the prints available, so we can fault him for some scenes that don't make sense no matter what. It didn't make sense before, and it less annoying than the original. So I have to say KUDDOS to DonKamillo for giving us another version to love star wars again.

thanks from those of use who want to love star wars again!

Before I only wished to forget this move, but this edit really nails the spot. All the idiocy from the original is removed. The plot is now gripping and tight. A forgettable movie became a great one. Kudos to DonKamillo!

The only scene which didn't make sense was when the rebels were rushing the cannon. Poe eventually calls off the attack, but Finn decides to press on. The next scene the giant door has been destroyed and all the rebels are in the cave, Finn included. I'm not sure what happened there vs the original, since the latter isn't that fresh in my mind, but it looks odd.

Thanks for the review ricerom!

To clarify:
In the original Poe calls off the attack but Finn does not listen and decides to sacrifice himself. In my edit he listens even though he's not happy with Poe's decision. He shakes his head in defiance but we still see everybody turning around to fly back so we can assume that Finn did the same.

I am absolutely anti the Disney Trilogy and TLJ was the worst one in my opinion. We’re in an age of deconstructing our heroes, but this was ridiculous. Now, with that being said of my views.....

Wow! There was a lot of time and effort and thought put into this edit. Without having watched the movie since opening night in theaters, I went into this completely fresh. Outside of 1 or 2 minor nitpicks, this was a HUGE improvement over the original cut. Canto Bight plot is not missed, but I missed seeing Finn. Here, with his reduced screen time, it does drive home what the DT ended up doing with him as having him a side character in the background.

Without all of the excess fat, the 2 major plot lines are more focused and surprisingly, Poe became likable for me since the mutiny plot is gone. I love that Luke lives and I love that ending leading into the next movie. The ending didn’t quite feel “Star Wars-y” as the scene felt like a mid-credits scene, but overall the DT doesn’t feel “Star Wars-y” either in general.

2 minor nitpicks

1. The emotional scene of Luke in front of his jedi robe in the trunk could’ve been used perfectly as him sensing Leia’s demise and his conflict with returning to action.

2. Since the narrative was altered to have more scenes take place at once on Acho-To (I think I spelled it right), it felt like it had been edited it didn’t quite have a natural flow. This isn’t a slight against Don, it just has to do with the material he had to work with.

Oh yeah! That one additional shot of the island from overhead was clearly slowed down and that bothered me surprisingly, but you work with what you have.

Overall, this was an excellent edit and Don didn’t try to reinvent the wheel, he fixed it for a much smoother ride through a bumpy road for Star Wars fans.

Applause all around for you, sir!

This was fantastic. I could never watch the original again, it's go so much rubbish in it, this edit is so much more streamlined and feels like a fine movie. thanks you DonKamillo!
