This edit takes bits and pieces of various groundhog days shown in the film, some from phils first time working a new angle and some after he perfected it. If you are expecting this to cut straight from the day before groundhog day straight to groundhog day prime like i was, that's not what it is so fair warning. The best way i can describe this edit is that it shows the most entertaining interactions between phil and rita as long as they all flow narratively. Good edit, not the one i would make but still very good.

Adabisi's take on "Groundhog Day" is a sweet confection.
He barely leaves a trace of Murray's arrogance and self-importance.
Instead, the reporter appears as ideal dating material, a potential soulmate.
Andie MacDowell's character can't help but experience that perfect first date.
The ending brought the curtain down swiftly, perhaps too swiftly.
The title is apt, as it recalls the smug beer pitchman of a few years back.
Fun, ironic, with an undertone that everyone is being conned.
Nice one.

What a fun idea. It definitely changes the source material drastically. It was interesting to see these scenes with the thematic context completely changed. It does feel a touch disjointed but I think it's a perfectly acceptable way to pack information into a short if the narrative is kept up and the story carries us forward, which it does. I find it a lot less powerful than the original but it's really fun to see scenes turned into a different kind of short altogether.

Adabisi sure does love "Groundhog Day" seeing that this is his second Consecution short for that flick. This didn't quite work out for me, but it was well put together. As others have pointed out Phil is a bit of a dick in the opening and then all of a sudden he's the coolest mofo in town. And it felt a bit disjointed, going from one scene of him being Rico Sauve to another scene of him rocking out on the piano, etc. without really feeling like a natural progression of story and characters. But, it was fun to watch and relive some great moments from a classic film.

Another very nice handling of tricky source material; it doesn't quite hang together in an entirely convincing fashion (Phil's demeanour near the start doesn't make sense in the context of him being on good terms with so many residents of Punxsutawney; similarly, his brash manner when he first attempts to chat up Rita doesn't gel with his later more considerate manner), but it's close and the whole thing is put together in a way that is very enjoyable to watch. Nice job!
