Mission Impossible 2: The Spence Edit certainly does what it sets out to do, the whole film has the mature and less comedic tone of the original version: Like said in other reviews, the new opening credits transition and sequence is great! I loved how it was edited, I acrtually bought MI:2 specifically one for my collection, but also to see it's cheesiness, but I wanted to try the more serious version first and it delivers! I really like what Spence did here and think this fits as a great installment in the series, despite it's uneditable flaws. Only complaint? The cliff climbing scene was so 2000's come oN!! :D Should've kept it in!

But no in all seriousness, great work!

This movie has always been the odd one out in this series and it’s a credit to the makers for continuing with it after this dud, but I never knew that the movie could be fixed in the editing room, but by golly, Spence has done it. By cutting out the ridiculous slow mo and the woo effect and completely changing the score, this film is no longer a mess and flows perfectly well and fits in perfectly with the later movies.
This edit deserves high praise and should be everyone’s go to version of the film rather than the guilty pleasure that is the theatrical version.

Wow, just watched this. First things first; superb job with the score, so much better than the original. Also for doing what was possible with the slow motion excess, I was hiding behind the chair waiting for the 'shampoo commercial ' scene when the bad guy reunites with his his girl, but thankfully it was nicely cut. Spence did a great job but I'm sorry this movie is beyond saving. The fight scenes are like something out of Zoolander! Recommended for those who enjoy watching the complete series every year or two and definitely way better than the original.

This is a very well made edit, but, after watching it, I have to admit that I'd rather have rewatched John Woo's orginal with all its cheesiness and excesses. While watching Spence's version, while perfectly fine, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was watching a watered down version of something that was intended to be an over-the-top ridiculous action opera. I felt like having a Diet Cheesecake when the entire point is the decadence and richness. None of this is Spence's fault, mind you. I thought I wanted a version of M:I 2 that was more in line with the rest of the franchise, but I was completely wrong. I actually wanted John Woo's outrageous love letter to Tom Cruise's flowing hair and gun ballet, so I have this edit to thank for helping me come to that realization.

I enjoyed the original version of M:I-2 while still seeing the huge flaws that the movie had. It is always fun to rewatch the action scenes of the movie, but there is too much cheesiness and the style of music doesn't work in a Mission Impossible movie. So I'm glad to say that this fan edit by Spence does fix the biggest flaws, two of which were my biggest gripes with the movie: the pace and the music. Anything redundant has been removed to quicken the pace and get to the point. The action scenes and the quieter moments are more emotional and improved thanks to the music from other M:I movies and the pace making them tighter.

Just like some reviewers have said before me, this fan edit does salvage the second M:I entry and make it worthy one as well. It does make it, at least in my books, as good (maybe even better) as the first M:I movie. Well done, Spence! I don't know how you managed to fix this movie, but you managed to do it and even made it a great action movie in my eyes.
