November 17, 1978... a day that will live in infamy...
This was the date that this monstrosity aired on national television to an unsuspecting public, high on the adrenaline rush of the first Star Wars movie... Kids everywhere stayed home, glued to their television sets, hoping to catch a glimpse of their intergalactic heroes... what they got was Bea Arthur pouring a drink into the top of Harvey Korman's head and upwards of 10 minutes of non-stop Wookie-speak.

That night, four young Burger Chef employees were murdered in Speedway, Indiana, and the next day, the Jonestown Massacre took place where more than 900 people committed suicide. Was it all related? Probably. Even George Lucas wanted this monstrosity erased from the collective consciousness of mankind, but some simply could not forget the horrors they experienced that night...

Now, through the magic of fanediting, we have a better version of the Holiday Special. Yes, it's still crap. And it could use a LOT more music. But, if you're in the mood for something on the level of Disney-era Star Wars that was oddly created in 1978, this is the best way to inflict yourself with this, the equivalent of the STD of the Star Wars universe.

I highly recommend this fanedit for anyone brave enough to sit through the Star Wars Holiday Special.

NOTE: I was going to knock the enjoyment of this because, honestly, the Star Wars Holiday Special is THAT BAD, but no, I'm going to give a full 10 stars for the effort.

Well what can be said about the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special? It aired once and has such folklore around it. I've seen interviews over the years of the main characters and when they are asked about this, it looks like they just wanna puke. But EvilEd saves the day with his edit. This as with all his Heavy edits starts with Mr. Hagar and goes from there, only to see where they might end up. This "special" has so much cheese in it I thought the viewer might end up in Wisconsin. But his edit and additions at least has made this tolerable and fun to watch. Again no techie stuff here. As for my popcorn scale. The original program would need to give me a lifetime supply to watch again. But knowing this is an EvilEd edit. And having watched his other Star Wars edits. I will give it 5 out of 5 popcorns. And I will look forward to see what other metal he can add to the Star Wars universe.

Off the wall stuff! I've been meaning to get a review in for the 'Heavy Star Warses' for ages but without having sat down and watched one all the way through I guess I felt myself unworthy. Even though having skipped through them all its obvious to me there is a consistently high level of kitchness, and disco night 80s disc-jockeying with the appropriate technicolouring and technicalities of low-techness. Its good to get the opportunity to say this and be upfront and honest about this all being way too much fun for me, in fact. Not in this case though!! I think we have here what one can only make fair description of in terms of a masterpiece.... Everything works perfectly and it may in fact be a struggle for many (myself included) to discern what is - shall we say - non-original material..... By golly and the goshes; this is too cool!!!
