As with his "Darklighter" edit, so too is this edit a complete treat! Once again Bobson shows how a film can benefit from the use of adding deleted scenes, and a few other things (see the changes list). Great visuals and audio editing.
This is, in part, one of the reasons I enjoy fan edits, but I digress. After listening to the director's commentary track on the Blu-ray — hearing how many years, centuries even, might have passed before Phil's day ended and his transformation came to fruition — I realized the original film came up lacking. Here is where this fan edit surpasses the original. While too many films nowadays are too long, bloated even, for little or no good reason, Groundhog Day, in my estimation, is too short. More could have been done in the original to show the extent of Phil's character growth and transformation, beyond the released deleted scenes. However, Bobson brings us one step closer in this regard. Well done! And thank you, Bobson.
